Opt Out Option for Advancing a Tank

anna_tankgirl's Photo anna_tankgirl Feb 12 2013

I have an idea why not let a player opt out of advancing a vehicle line past its current tier at any point after Tier IV in return the next researched vehicles are eliminated and the vehicle goes elite will all its own upgrades.

For example if I don't want anything past a KV-1 it would "elite" once all the KV-1 upgrades are done but the next vehicles would no longer be available.

I propose this not be free though it should cost some gold and clearly would be locked into the choice but why should a player have to work on vehicle he or she never wants to get?

why would you lock yourself out of a line though?

Eliminates "Change of Mind" ... Player would have to think real hard before doing this ...

Given the consequence, the option shouldn't cost anything.

or an opt-out for free but an opt-in afterwards for a certain amount of gold, credits or xp or something.

No reason for this. The only thing you gain from a vehicle going elite is the accelerated crew training. If this is going to be your money maker to support no premium, or something to that end you are going to play it enough to elite it anyways.

Why would a player pay gold for not advancing a tank line when all they need to do is nothing?......

You can only do that AFTER taking the tank elite by researching everything - even things you don't want.  To take a KV-1 elite you have to research a KV-2, KV-1S, and T-150.  To take an AMX 12T elite you have to research an AMX 13 75 and a Lorr.155 50.  That Lorraine is a 140,000 xp arty that you need to research to elite your light tank.  WG has selected a few vehicles to be extremely hard to elite.  Why they did this who knows.  Most likely 'cause they are WG and do what they want - stupid or not.

Hell the PzIII/Iv is hard to elite.  gotta grind out 50k xp for the hummel.  and don't even get me started on the KV-2.   :Smile_sceptic:

It already exists in the game... Just stop at the tank at which you wish to stop. It's free and easy to do. I've done it with several lines already and it didn't cost me a thing and didn't require me to do anything.

I can't imagine a significant amount of the population would choose to do this.  If WG wants to add this after updates that are more useful, I would not object.  Of course, that will be never.

I'm not really sure why you think this is an advantage.  Are you looking at being able to accelerate crew training for that tank sooner?  Or are you looking at eliting a tank so you can grind XP for converting?  Both of these can be done, sooner and better, by buying a premium tank.

How about instead you when two tanks in one tier lead to the same tank in the higher tier, you can combine their XP.  For example, the M4A3E2 and M4A3E8 both lead to the T-20 and T-29.  If you are grinding both at the same time, you have left over XP that you have to pay to convert to "Free XP."

I'd love the option to turn on the accel. crew training when i wanted to, i'd get a frist set of skills going before i'd advance to the next tank(love to do this now with my T32 and M26). There's a small chance a few people would spend more time getting better at certain tiers before advancing to the next, gain some skills.

I've seen some stupid ideas in my time... but this one is up there. Not to say the OP is stupid, not insulting anyone here. Just saying it's a stupid idea and there is no reason for this.
