adding bots to the training room to test o...

Just ask for players to bring certain tanks so you can armor test them. One time someone asked me to do that so I just brought the tank they wanted and went AFK.

sounds like a good idea, I've often wanted to enter a training room by myself so I could explore a map at my leisure, as for target practice this would let you choose whatever tank you wanted and find the best places to penetrate its armor........... could be lots of good applications for something like this.

sadly, this cant happen. It is the way they have the server set up to stop people from hacking for the most part. When you download the game you are only downloading the tanks, maps, garage and all that stuff. YOU DO NOT download any data related to alpha or bravo damage, penetration, accuracy or anything on that matter. That is all controlled by the server. When you click the mouse button you are sending a request to fire to the server and then the server does all the calculations and sends you the result. Because of this, they will not do bots because they would have to release private information which they don't want you to have.

The training/tutorials for this game are woeful. There should always be access to a decent tutorial mode and a training room that is populated by vehicle targets -- unfortunately, the only useful training you get is in live battles where the results count and usually experimental errors cost you.
Only organized clans can conduct any useful training by bringing a willing group of cooperative participants in today's training room format.

It would be nice, but they said no. It takes up too much server space.

Instead of banning bots, just shuffle them to training rooms.
OP gets his test range, bots get stuck where they do minimal damage to gameplay.

I think it's a good idea, hell, the WG guys could even make a special map for it "Proving Grounds", where you select a certain number and type of tanks, hop in the room, fire away, and the game treats it like a training room (in that you still have to pay for ammo used)

It would probably need to be done in offline mode so that it wouldn't bog the servers down.

this should have been in the game from day 1. Been suggesting it since beta. Never happened. Players NEED to learn where to shoot tanks in order to improve. Free shell training rooms+'bot' enemy tanks that dont do anything is how you get it done. Heck, even make a tank training map that is just flat and spawns enemy tanks next to you.

Add an option to choose which vehicle the bots drop in and its done.

Get rid of the costs for shells during training. You don't get any income anyway so what's with the unnecessary costs? It makes people turn away from the training room (esp if they are testing multiple high tier guns/tanks)
