Lakeville.  You see that only you (in a T1 Heavy) and a med have gone to the valley.  You see that 6 tanks are headed your way and you are going to get rolled like a joint and get smoked.  So, you pull up into the pinch and turn sideways to at least slow down their flank with your soon-to-be-burning-husk of a tank.  Valid tactic?  Troll tactic?  Pointless as their heavy might still push you out of the way before any of your team can double-back from town to stop the mad cap?

Valid tactic, why would that even be a question?  It's within the confines of the game, it's quick thinking, and it was a lost cause anyways, may as well make something out of your run.

If you're driving a TOG it might work if you can wedge your corpse right, but IMO it's always best to go down shooting from cover doing as much damage as possible before you die.

LOL i did that on a bridge with my Lorraine40t last night. Yes it is a valid tactic... just a very annoying one.

Good tactic on the middle road of Lakeville as well. We use it in CW to cover the middle. If our guys is about to die, he turns sideways to block it. Also blocking bridges on the maps that have them is a good tactic to stop a push on a weak flank. If you know you are gonna die, you can help your team by stopping the enemy anyways you can.

It's a valid tactic if you're not suiciding to do it.  I saw a JPzE100 suicide to block a bridge...even going so far as to turn sideways where he couldn't even shoot anything.  I smashed him from above and that was that.

Pre physics - Yah did it all the time on bridges to keep them from an avenue.
Post physics, works but you can me moved, so more of a road block than a denial anymore.

If you can inconvenience the enemy with your wreck, then you should.

Also a good tactic at the cap in encounter. It used to work well at Komarin. someone suicides their heavy in the cap at the right angle and one or 2 tanks hide behind it. the only way for the other team to get a shot is to expose themsevles.

at this point its a duck shoot.   its so hard to convince a heavy to suicide however.

i miss Komarin. get rid of dragon ridge and el halluf and bring it back plz. surely with all the $ wot is banking they can come up with another map. swamp was better than these dogs too!

bring it trolls!

With physics tanks your tier besides light tanks can easily remove your heavy out of the way, this tactic is only valid if a Maus wedges himself in tank alley forcing the opposing team to move to mid field. This is the type of scenario that comes into play that makes it worth it. Not a light weight T1 heavy trying to road block a rather large area in lakeville.

Yes it is good tactic sometimes. Erlenberg - I have blocked south bridge with my KV-5 when in defending base mod. KV-5 was too heavy for opponent tanks to move it and go through.

It is a 'valid' tactic, but I'm not sure it is an advisable one.

I guess there are situations though were buying your team a few seconds is worth it, you'd have to be a heavy tank and you'd have to be sure that the few seconds it took for them to push you out of the way was more than the few seconds you'd by back pedalling and generally trying to stay alive.

Heavy tanks block bridges well.  Lighter tanks, even mediums can be pushed out of the way fairely quickly.  Tanks like the Maus, E100, KV5 and Lowe are perfect roadblocks though as little can push 100 tons out of the way, even other heavies would struggle.

On El Halluf, I was running my T-34-85 up the hill on the west, where it has the windy path, and a medium managed to get himself killed about half way up, where I was going to pop over to start shooting everyone in the side and cause chaos.  Because I was pushing uphill it took me 120 seconds just to get it moved enough that I could drive around it.. Quite effective tbh, and funny.

Lorraine? waste. What cannot move that in like 20 seconds?
Only works if you are a heaviy tank.
