I am too good at Patrol Duty.  I get it in just about tank class except arty.
Hell, my heavies do it just about as much as my scouts...

I dont think i have this metal at all im one to fallow and own everytime i go out and use cover i get surrounded and killed nobody helps me..

I've never got this award ever. Played thousands of games. Am I missing something? Do I have to spot and not hit them.

No, you can shoot and even kill them.
The real trick is to be the only one spotting an enemy tank when a team-mate shoots it, for 6 different tanks in one battle.
I now have 42 of these medals.

No, that isn't necessary.  But the longer you can stay alive and keep the enemy lit the better the chance that your team will damage at least 6 of them.

I have moved to where I could light the enemy and a couple of tanks from my team suicide rushed them, I watched the rushers die and I stayed alive lighting the enemy, my team-mates were shooting the whole time and 6 were damaged after the suicidal rushers died while I was the only one lighting the enemy, I earned 'Patrol Duty'.
That is how I usually do it.

Ok, it detected 7, killed 1 and shot 5 for 5 with pen. Our team destroyed all their tanks and still no Patrol Duty award, how come? Do I have to keep them lit until they are damaged to collect reward?

I have 10 highlights with final victory by all ennemy destroyed and no reward ???? What's up ??

I highlighted 8, nobody on my team highlighted 6 or more, and i did not get the medal.  my team won.  I think i did not receive the metal because only 4 of the 8 were damaged by my team.

bah, just found out about this now :(
I love stealth scouting, decided to give it a try and got it on my 2nd fight.

for those wondering, based on the description of the award, even if you get the 6+ spotted and damaged, you may not get the award if someone else has had more friendly damage to their spotted vehicles.

The obvious answer is that someone else on your team ALSO was lighting those same targets while they were being damaged.

You can earn some 'damage upon detecting' while someone else also does, but for 'Patrol Duty' you need 6 different enemy tanks to get damaged by your team mates while you and ONLY you are detecting them.
