Splitting the playerbase into two is a terrible idea. Beyond horrible.
What makes more sense is a single world-server somewhere (because latency makes very little difference to it) then clients having a preference to which shard servers they play on. Prefer euro, plays on euro shards. Otherwise plays on US. If in a platoon/clan grouping, the world server tallys the server selections and then the group battles on whichever has more. Bam, no playerbase separation, and people are happy because they have low pings.
This may be only a beta, but clans have already formed and a lot of them are going to be split in half because of this. Really, who wants to play with more lag? If they go with the native server, they get low ping, but have no clan (and/or have to make anew account on the other server). If they go with the other one, they have to play with lag always so will be much less likely to play for fun (and buy/spend gold).
Also, what about the horribly broken spotting system?
I agree with you 100% but server split was never in question, it was going to hapen, so joining clans with people on the other side of the pond might not have been the best idea to begin with.
