Hello,

I could not see a relevant forum for this, so I am posting here. Long time tank player on a fast and smooth desktop, however, I am planning an upcoming overseas holiday, and I dont think I can live without my tanks, so I wanted to ask.

What video card generation do I need for a laptop to play smoothly on med settings? I am not overly fussed abou graphic detail, I will probably just buy a laptop second hand cheaply just for this purpose, I just need to know what level of Nvidia or ATI card generation to look for that wil allow me to play.

Any suggestions much appreciated, or if anyone in Australia knows of any cheap laptops that are capable of running tanks, please let me know.

Thanks muchly!

ya, it's not good, but not bad. lots of framerape (framerate) problems and lag. you'd probly have to buy a gaming laptop to run games n stuff like this on it. I tried War Thunder on my laptop.... LAGAGAGAGAGAG!

Acer laptops are good, as long as you dont buy anything with an E processor series and it should have nvidia graphics.

running med settings is the problem. I've played every one of my 5k+ matches on a laptop that uses shared memory. I have graphics turned down, but so what? There is also a mod that can help improve performance.

Wow, well I dont want to spend more than $400, - $500 for a second hand laptop. I have seen some around this price with a 1GB graphics card - Obvously Intel graphics is not going to cut it. I am happy with low settings as long as I can play smoothly. Someone please just tell me the minimum spec I should be looking at buying.

I would say try getting a AMD laptop of the A8 - A10 (2nd gen) series APU it comes with a relatively  strong integrated graphics chip and won't bust the bank as well as the 1st gen APUs  ... let me search some up for ya

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834215974 @ $550 before tax
Acer Aspire
A10-4600M (2.30GHz)
750GB HDD 5400rpm
AMD Radeon HD 7670M

Acer Aspire
A8-4500M(1.90GHz)
500GB HDD 5400rpm
7670M

both of them should run WOT well enough

I bought a 1st gen ASUS G73-JH in 2010 and it works fine running WOT - but graphics are mid to low mid settings - although it is fine for gameplay. You should be able to find something comparable for your budget. For a few bucks more take a look at the 2nd gen ASUS G73-SW, which has the Sandy Bridge Intel i7 (also 2nd gen) processor. Also look at used gaming laptops from MSI, Sager, Toshiba. Alienware is not as good of a value as the others - you're paying for fancy cases and lighting. You can find specs for all of these online. Note - ASUS lappys with "BB" in the latter part of the model number (G73-JH BBXXX) have lower res screens - and lower prices - because they were a mass market item sold by Best Buy. That might work for you as well. Third generation of my lappy is the G75-VW, which I think is about to be replaced by a 4th gen machine. That rig has some serious horsepower! Good luck.

I trust gaming laptops much less than I do a gaming desktop in all honesty.

I play wot on lowest settings with a solid 25 - 30 fps. Not to bad, but I'd like something around 60, nothing more than that though beacuse 60 is plenty of fps for everyone.

As far as your reason to buy a laptop - i want to play it during my travel the counter question is will you have internet with a decent speed?
That depends but if you do - i have a Nvidia GTX 660 which is pretty nice imo.
My laptop is a 700 ish lenovo y580 gaming lappy. pretty nice overall.

I avg. 50 + fps.

Whatever you do make sure you test the game on it before you buy it.

My HP TM2t tablet works great. 1.2 Gig, cor i3, 8 gig ram, 512 video, 500 gig HD.  You can get a good machine on ebay for a nice price. Used $200.00 to $900.00 range.

I play on a laptop with no problems, albeit at low graphics settings.  It's a Dell inspiron 17, 6GB RAM, I5 processor, 750GB 7200 hard drive and whatever graphics card it came with.  Nothing super special.

I get anywhere from 25-40 FPS with it any day, less through the sniper scope in the woods, 17-25.

Ah, yes, the sniper is what I was a little worried about. My faltemate was playing on his laptop while his desktop was getting repaired and framerates were horrible.

@Gerhard - You play on a tablet??
