I just got this the other day, I liked the churchill I a lot actually but this thing being up against higher tier tanks makes it impossible for me to progress. I actually lose money each match. I'm still using the previous teir gun because i cant get exp at all on this stupid tank. my avg exp per battle is around 150. How do you progress with this tank when a single shot from most of the tanks you go up against, just murder you, and your gun doesn't scratch tier 6 mediums?

This is by far the most frustrating tank I have used, and I used a T-28.

Yeah from the sounds of it, stock especially, it's a hard tank to play with. I am at Churchill I, so I will be there with you shortly.

I average well over 1,000 damage a game in mine. It's not a bad tank by any means.

I had gone down the Brit medium route first so I had access to guns almost immediately, but once upgraded I've actually been enjoying the Church VII. The lack of gun depression is a challenge but otherwise it's a solid unit.

I liked the british heavy line, i still have the churchill vii. If you haven't researched the top gun on the churchill i, you'll have to work your way up to that churchill i top gun. You have to play like a b1 eventually because you have heavies that you can't pen, you have to look at enemies' weakspots and shoot, the churchill vii's top gun is quite okay for its tier and has a good rate of fire, if you use them correctly while facing heavies, you'll like it. Try to angle your tracks from the hull so the enemy can't shoot at your weakspots.  :great:

Its a painful grind with such poor mobility and a gun that's only a tiny bit better than the Churchill I's. The Black prince gives you more of the same but with a little extra mobility and better gun depression.

Church at stock is like a kv-1s at stock brutal but when u get ur battles up and unlock the next treads/turret/gun you will love the tank. Just always remember the churchill is a base defense tank since its so slow and never have ur tracks hanging out. a fully upgraded church 7 can go 1 on 1 with any tier 6 tank and win just play smart and defense with it

As far as I can tell, the Churchill series is designed for sidescrape maneuvers.  That is to say that you expose the hull's side around a corner first (and maybe a little bit of the frontal hull), at an extreme angle, so that most spots will auto-bounce, and slowly reverse out for that you can take a shot.  This will become easier with the upgraded turret, as its frontal armor is high enough for this maneuver to work.

Take that with a grain of salt: I have not yet played the Churchill VII.

This tank is the worst tank for it's repective tier in the game. I have it fully maxed, with a rammer, and the crew at 92%, I just played a game and could not kill a KV1. I shot it 11 times and failed to kill it. The gun is by far the biggest weakness of this tank. I can deal with the spotty armor, the speed, but the top gun is useless. The Mark 1 is far better in it's tier. The gun has no depression, no penetration, no damage. It is a tier 5 gun on a tier 5 tank, playing in tier 6. IT WILL BE PAINFUL and with only theBP to look forward too. I'm not sure I'll continue until it gets a major buff.

Playing in tier 6? I wish I could say that I played in tier 6 but I'm normally going against tier 7-8 tanks.

You will get murdered if you do that in the Churchill VII.  The top of your tracks are actually part of the hitbox and has a pitiful amount of armor covering it.  The insides of the tracks that jut out are also hitboxes with <50mm of armor, so those get shot to pieces fairly often in a close range brawl.  The best way to "deflect" things with this tank is to face the bullet head on like an IS-3 and hope the shot bounces.

The Churchill VII was a painful grind for me.  It's too slow to relocate to plug holes and the gun is woefully insufficient even at tier 6, forget about penning tier 7 and 8s.  Carry about 15 sprem rounds and when you see something you can't pen: shoot those instead and hope they scoot off.  The sprem rounds can pen a few tough customers if you aim right.

Play it as a support tank, because it sure can't push a line well.  It's a bully against idiots though.

I do not have this problem with this tank.  You just have to make a good decision at the beginning of the battle since, you are so slow.  The gun is accurate enough to be a second line sniper as well if you are not at the top of the food chain.

And second rate second line sniper if you are in WW feeding, or concentrated tier VII heavies.

You will get through it, I  get it elite sooner than ARL44.

Midrange brawler...my best description of the Church VII.

Stay far enough away so that those Russian KV-1s have a hard time actually hitting you, but stay in front of the support units / snipers.

Not quite sure how to describe it...first line of defense maybe...Better for the enemy to be shooting at you than your TD's, or sniper tanks (ARL-44's) on your team.

My strategy so far has been to basically try and be a target so that the tanks that actually matter don't get hit.

Scrape Goat, there we go. Not that it is good at it, but better than tank that doesn't "feature" 'good armour'.

Churchill VII is one of the worst tier 6s out there right now. Just grit your teeth and grind through it (or free exp through it, at least to get the tracks upgrade to mount the 75mm gun) and black prince is bit better as a tier 7 than churchill VII is at tier 6.

You have to have patience with the Churchill 1.  It got a little better with the top engine but still slow.  The 75mm HV is decent.  The Churchill 1 is the for some reason the only tank I have a top gun with.

It is a very tough tank to get into, Huge and slow and peashooter of a gun, so generates no fear at all.  Frankly games were driving me insane especially recently been in fail team after fail the your doing your thing look up and everyone disappeared WTH!!! after very horrid weekend across all tanks I finally gave up and free xp'ed to BP.  I rarely touch my free xp.

Side scrape is doable but sides aren't that good.  In order to get turret out need to angle your self pretty far over so they have good chance of hurting ya on side anyway. sometimes works sometimes gets ya killed.

Then frontally can hit hull through front tracks so that good armor that supposed to be upfront easily ignored.

Frankly think they should bump the Churchill and maybe even BP down 1 tier in mean time stick to doing daily double then move on in time will finish it off and move on.

Mean time still a very new tank line/trees think in time they will straighten it out, just seeing how it rolls right now once they get those stats they will start making changes,

I liked my churchill 7 after it was fully upgraded, unfortunately the grind to get there is wearisome in the extreme.

You don't need the tracks to mount the 75mm from the Churchill I.
