My first tier 8 tank

4 days ago I got my first tier 8 tank.  I have over 4K games..so this is a bit unusual to wait so long.   I love the tank interplay of tier 8-10.  Learning weakspots..gun depression of the enemy. how fast...both I and the enemy can turn....view range mechanics.  Its a wealth of subtle gameplay that far out paces anything in the lower tier.  I even like the challenge of trying to help tier 10 teammates kill the tier 10 enemy.

This game would be perfect and I wouldnt understand why people dont like high tier games..if it wasnt for one thing....ARTY..FREAKIN ARTY...FREAKIN GD MF BFing ARTY.

4-5 ARTY IN EVERY FREAKIN MATCH.

All of what I mentioned above is totally lost due to the fact you either have to camp and stay hidden or arty will get you...or you have to run like a scared rabbit the whole game.

I got a splash damage for 800 hp.  I was literally on the side of a cliff trying to avoid arty and somehow despite a 100 ft wall directly between me and arty it splashed me for 800 hps.  my  t32 which arguably has the best all around armor of any US medium or heavy tank..that splash went threw my armor like butter.

Freak this....tier 8-10 completely sucks...its just a shooting bucket for crappy tankers to use their arty to generate credits.

I totally keep moving between shots so maybe arty will pick on someone else...I totally try to completely relocate after every shot...but the t32 is a hull down heavy tank...good hull down positions that help the team effort and cover the enemy advance are not just everywhere on the map.

It sucks...if it wasnt for the fact that I joined a clan...and the clan needs tier 10 tanks... i dont think id ever play above tier 7.

I just loveeee...what arty does for the game.

Supposedly WG is fixing the unbalanced nature of artillery with the tier ten artillery plan. However, it looks like the Soviets are gaining yet another tank with the 203mm gun, so I don't have hopes for that.


Regardless of the unbalanced nature of higher tiered games and artillery, I rarely have problems with artillery spam at tier eight. When artillery is spammed (which is mostly tier tens), the artillery replaces the tier eights 95% of the time.

I just started playing tier eight a couple of weeks ago, and I've noticed up to five arty pieces on each side. I thought the max was three?

Sir..thank you for your response... I am talking about when the MM puts my tier 8 t32 in tier 10 games...which happens fairly often...Im often the only tier 8 with 5 tier 8 arties on my team.  Maybe the MM doesnt like me.

Arty isn't so great when they have a Pershing driver going through them like a mad cat. I have done that in a teir 7-9 game. I got a Dimutru something medal for the 4 arty kills. xD

I love high tier battles with people that don't know how to deal with high tier arty. It makes my life so much more enjoyable to watch them go to the exact same spots on the map to camp; expecting the same results.

Artillery is there for exactly that reason, so you cant just run around and play like a boss, you gotta think smart and take cover,

I have one heavy tier 8 tank..a t32...I do not have the speed of a pershing...but thank you...I now am fully informed that in tier 8-10 one needs to get tanks that are "arty safe".  What a stupid term  " arty safe" there is no such thing with a splash radius of up to 6 meters and projectile arc that completely defies physics.

no no no, there is no cover, when a gold round does close to 10 meters splash not to mention the high damage... THERE IS NO WHERE TO HIDE (I drive the E 100 moving house)

why not join them? try to play Arty, btw, try to see from your enemy side point, you, a T32, got insane turret armor that you abuse by Hull-down, any SANE guy would call an Arty strike to end you.

@AlphaBloom: the following patch at 8.6 will deal with Arty system.

70% of maps do not have artillery-proof cover. Most maps were flattened out with physics making the problem worse. Besides, even with decent cover, the T92 doesn't care.

Well its T92, a boomshtick,AOE is one of its winning point, but its also fire slow, reload slow.

i had a fair share of Arty rage too, but when you see it from outside the box, Arty is needed to end the match faster.

I checked your stats sir..you play mostly mediums and lights...so please don't bust my chops by saying I dont know how to avoid arty...cause in a high tier heavy or td its not that easy.  Secondly, often people go to the same spots because they are critical choke points to slow or stop the enemy advance.  You can disagree with my statement...but dont generalize about my abilities on this game..because after 9K more matches you are not that much better than I am.

Yeah, that happened with my KV-4 for a while. I just ground it out and finally started getting into teir eight battles again. But then again, my KV-4 has 225 pen, whereas the T32 has 198. As for arty, you'll find the spots where they can't hit you eventually. The first tier eight always has a steep learning curve.
You'll do great, no worries. It only gets better from there  :glasses:

They hinted at arties being limited sometime down the road, but it's not coming in 8.5 or 8.6.

Eh, nothing compares to my one time in Conqueror after waiting for like 5 minutes I peeked out and hissed then five arty shells went flying to my conqueror ending me after I fired a single shell. I should've camped harder.

Went in single second, 800, 1000,poof dead, and two more explosions for overkill.

I was like, arty was hunting for me?
