Okay, so I bought the Tiger recently and I heard a while back that its a good sidescraping tank; middle mounted turret but weak frontal armor. I can't get the hang of it. Yes, I've searched around about and saw the section in the wiki. Can anyone help me out here?

from what i have been able to determine from playing it tiger just doesnt have armor to take any hits  best to just  hide behind teamates and go out  when they shoot its really lacking in armor  but tiger p has forward mounted turret and short hull distance from point of exposure to the turret makes for a much more versatil tank.

It's called turret armor. Actually only T7 HT with great armor is the Tiger P. Everything else is pretty bad.

The TOG II is the best sidescraper - It takes some time to get it there, but I have bounced T29 and JPZ IV shots when scraping.

I've never really thought of the Tiger as a good sidescraper. It's too square. You want long tanks for sidescraping.

You need good side armor to pull it off... the Tiger is paper for this.

Oh you fell for the Old, "Tiger is a Good Side-Scraping Tank." Trick.....LOL
Make sure the people you ask stuff aren't biased towards one or another Line....I personally think Tiger not good in close with much of anything.

Get a buddy. Go to a training room. Figure out what angle you need for them not to pen your side. There is a fine line between, "LOL SUCKER!!! U AUTOBOUNCE ME!!! I RULZ" and "We've been hit!"

Maybe the people the OP asked are the people that like to shoot Tigers in the sides.

The side armor is actually a tiny bit thicker than the KT, and sidescraping works pretty well on that tank, especially when the alternative is taking a round to the front drive wheel or LFP and becoming a kitty flambé :)

It's not so much the length, as it is the turret position.

Plus, the front and side armor are pretty similar in thickness. You can't angle your front armor anywhere near as much as your side when shooting past a corner with a mid-mounted turret.

This means that with front peeking vs. sidescraping, sidescraping is going to give you greater effective armor thickness against your target's return fire.

The most effective plan for using your Tiger's armor is "don't get hit".    That's about it.

Yeah, I should have been more specific.  It takes more time to sidescrape with the TOG because you have to turn it all the way around so that you are facing backwards...  I.E. Butt scraping.  You can't sidescrape when you have the front forward.
