I really enjoyed the BDR, but I simply fell in love with the ARL. Both are great tanks and really round out the french tree.

The ARL 44 is usable, after you dump the barn for a turret, but the M4 1945 is where the French heavies start to become real tanks. The B1 and BDR can have their moments, but weren't much to my taste. At least on the B1, it needed more alpha damage output. Although that 90mm on the BDR was nice to have.

Where does the crew come into this thing ... the only hatch I saw was on the side through the tracks.

I'm keeping it, forever. As far as I know, this is the best non-premium money maker, need to check that, for a non-premium player, this is the tank that makes monies for me. However my main problem with this tank (this problem is also present on my ARL-44), I cannot win Ace Tanker, I just can't. I had some great matches, but no Ace Tanker!. It means relatively nothing to me, but it's my second most played tank, I MUST have it.

It can do a fantastic job even in Tier VII matches, it has a decent speed for a flanking heavy.

I absolutely love this Tank. Had free exp, so didn't have to suffer it stock. My best in this tank is 9 kills, including a t29.

After playing the American autoloaders, I made a concerted effort to go after the French heavy autoloaders. I had no plans to keep any of the tanks before the AMX 50 100, but the BDR G1B was so effective that I couldn't part with it. The 90mm gun is very effective at tier 5 and, though this tank has some weaknesses, that gun more than makes up for them in my opinion. The BDR sure came as a pleasant surprise. Though I have done very well in the ARL 44, it doesn't feel as strong for its tier as the BDR did for me. Quite a few people I play with made fun of me playing the French tanks until they saw the effectiveness of the BDR. Now some of them have actually worked the French line just the get the BDR and its 90mm.

I'm running like a dozen lines right now so I'm holding off until the next major upgrade to the French tech tree.

Love my fully upgraded BDR. It makes me money. I am actually going to keep a slot in garage for it once I move to ARL44. I actually usually finish in the top 5 slots with many top slot finishes. With the 90mm you can dish out a lot of damage. It is cheap to repair and resupply as well. Only issue I have is that it is turd slow. If you are used to playing fast tanks this may drive you nuts. Also, the grind to get to it does suck. I free xp'd through the B1, hated that tank.

I am going to second this.  I liked the BDR, thought the ARL was fun, but LOVE the AMX M4 1945 and the FCM 50t is also a beast.  Both the 1945 and FCM have such a high rate of fire with the 90mm, that they can out DPM the autoloaders and don't have 40 second reloads...

I have a 17% w/r in the G1B. I've only had 2 battles so far that weren't tier 7.
It's too slow to do any good in a battle, especially if the 6-7 base campers all die and you have to try and get back to reset cap....
It's so bad that it's lowering my w/r. I might free xp my way past it...

The BDR has one thing that really kills it for me: gun handling. It has .3 dispersion on hull movement. For comparison, the KV-1S has .22. That's... Beyond awful

The moment you rant about BDR's speed also tells everyone you don't know how to play it.

BDR doesn't win by out maneuvering your opponent, nor play hero against higher tiers, but won by placing it on the right spot.

The most valuable suggestion I can make to help you with the BDR is to get the 90mm gun and learn to use peek-a-boo tactics from hard cover. This allows you to stay safe while reloading and use the alpha damage to your advantage. If you learn to do this effectively, the BDR can ring up some very impressive games.

Well, it depends on the gun. The 90mm makes it a high powered (though slightly inaccurate) sniping vehicle. It is faster than most heavies of its tier, but you are still a heavy, so don't try to play it like a medium. The armor causes problems with close range fighting, while the slow reload can cause you to get killed easily if you are by yourself.
For some reason (might be insane for all I know), I prefer the 75mm SA44. It has very high firerate as it fires 2-3 rounds in the same time it takes the 90mm to fire 1. That lets it be played like a slow T1 Heavy or slow medium. Pen is abit low for the 75mm, but it seams to hit the enemy much more often. It also has higher DPM, with 1736.9 compared to the 90mm's 1516.8 (on base/listed stats). The 90mm was frustrating to me, but the SA44 is making this tank a blast, and now I will be keeping this tank

Its funny. I tried that, but the 90mm doesn't like hitting targets for me, even at close range  :veryhappy:

After 108 games, I have a 58% winrate, 3.71 destruction ratio, and 1.91 damage ratio. It has racked up a Radley-Walters, 4 Top Guns, 8 Snipers, 3 Steel Walls, and a De Langlades medal. The 90mm has been sufficiently accurate for me, but not spectacular. Currently, I have 75% overall accuracy with the BDR. Considering that I mostly drive tank destroyers, I have done well in this heavy.

BDR is absolutely worthless stock.  The 75s are just absolutely bad on such a slow, poorly armoured platform.  You NEED that 90mm, engine, and a crew in 90% range before it begins to not suck.  Once you hit that point, it kind of becomes a tier 5 KV-1S as you can two-shot anything in your tier but other heavies and should never be in the open for any reason even when top tier.  Can't help you on the crap MM, no tank is redeemable when you're bottom tier every game.
