There seems to be a "new" artillery tracer mod, as I have noticed an uptick with accurate (one shot) counter battery fire.

Edit: so I get downvoted for something that is true? Hrmmm  Sour grapes?

Do you have any evidence?

No, as I haven't gone looking for artillery tracer mods since they are apparently banned.

So you have no evidence the mod exists and that there has been a recent rise in counter battery. Why should any one believe you?

lol wow you need to learn how to counter battery then
you will know why you should move after every shot unless no arty has/over a 105mm gun

Some people are just very good at countering.... NOT ME.

Shoot and scoot is the best way to avoid being countered.

My question is... does WG even have a system to find illegal mods?

Well, I am usually good and you don't need a mod for that. Take the S-51 with its splash radius (only running Premium Ammo on it) - SPG is in kill zone up to 7.5m away. So, if you don't shoot and scoot right away, you are dead. Now, imagine my GWTiger with HE...

...now here my way: Go somewhere you are not expected, shoot other tanks, not SPG and you have a good chance of survival. If you get some close calls, move more than just 10m - change position if possible. Also, plan ahead on where you could or want to go in case you get spotted or countered with close impacts. Also, I usually scoot back if I don't get a close impact, so I can still run down a hill after shot (increasing speed) or I can take cover for reload behind the same rock. I only move away if I get either spotted or someone tries to counter me.

and about a new tracer mod: I doubt it. AFAIK, WN changed how tracers are displayed so you cannot use a GUI mod to keep them lit. It is supposed to be server-sided now.

They do have a system but how well it works is another story. With the last mod pack showing what was possible to do it will be interesting to see how WG will react to it outside of saying we have implemented something but won't give any details. The guys that put out that mod pack a few weeks ago were only running a trial to show that is worked, they shut it down and are grouping to set up a business out of it. WG said they will be able to tell what mods are running from replays if people submit them, however, the last mod pack dll injected itself so the mods were not running natively by the game.

There a not "Ilegal Mods".  Otherwise modding would be disabled.  Point to a "official" thread that list any ilegal mods...

On topic well I always shot, relocate.  Rinse and repeat.. Counter battery I find is a waste of shell and damage you could be doing to enemy tanks.  I only CB when there are no other targes visible.

Even if I did go hunting for the apparent artillery tracer mod, I'm not allowed to post information about it am I?

Are you simply suspicious if there is a new traced mod out there, based on a higher incidence of successful counter battery fire?  Or are you saying that you've actually observed such a mod?

Yes there is unfotunately, and it has a lot more features, like aimbot for moving targets too! I do really hope they will ban eveyone who is using it.

I have found couple of pages and reported them to support, mostly RU, they're selling this mod for 100 rubles or something. Anyway support confirmed there is a problem.

I will confirm that there is a mod out there that both accentuates the tracers, and pinpoints arty location based on game data that is sent to your computer but not normally utilized. And no, I will not post links to validate my position. Either you accept my word as one of the foremost modders in the game, or you don't accept my word.

Absolutely true, have seen it for my self on the Russian sites.  The red square that pop up in the middle of the empty arty site are amazing.  Great Russian modding.  Looks like it would take skill to learn how to use it also. (7)

Please RE-READ that blog, AND the replies by Overlord. Those are PROPOSED 'banned' mods, they still have no way of detecting what mods are being used, OR how they'll handle things if they find people are using them.

.. Also, that was posted PRE 8.4 and we're ramping up to 8.6
