Does anyone remember this Type 62?:

Posted Image

Looks eerily similar to the WZ-132, doesn't it?

Posted Image

That's because the WZ-132 uses the old Type 62 model, and the Type 62 now uses the WZ-131's model. All of them have been re-textured accordingly, of course.
The Type 62 now has nearly the same hull width as the Type 59, as well as hull length. But this was not the case in real life.
Here's what the Type 62 currently looks like:

Posted Image

The WZ-132 and Type 62 look like completely different (but similar) tanks, right? Yeah, except that the WZ-132 and Type 62 were the exact same tank historically. (WZ132 was the factory designation for the Type 62, just like WZ-120 is the factory designation for the Type 59 - and even those two tanks have different models, despite being the same exact tank historically)

According to SinoDefence.com, the Type 62 and the WZ-132 are the same exact tank.
According to other sources, here are the dimensions for the Type 62 and Type 59 in real life:

Type 62:
Length: 5.6m
Width: 2.9m
Height: 2.3m
(taken from http://www.onwar.com...ta/chiltt62.htm)

Type 59:
Length: 6.04m
Width: 3.27m
Height: 2.59m
(taken from http://www.sinodefen...tank/type59.asp)

Here is a comparison between the in-game models of the Type 59 and Type 62, and how the Type 62 should look:

Note on the last one (above) how the turret overlaps the hull. This is not apparent in-game.

Suggestion:
Simply revert the Type 62's model to the previous one for historical reasons.

I agree. +1, WG should also focus on Historical Accuracy as well as balancing/aesthetics

I thought the type 59's hull does over lap on the side sponsons

Anyways tanks should be historicaly resized

I mean, have you SEEN the IS-3, its way too big in-game, its supposed to be the size of a pershing (Or close to it)

Thought I was the only one wondering about the "Type 62 is the WZ-132 but different hull shape" phenomenon. I approve of this

I don't now man, but have you seen the size of the British Centurions? Almost as long and wide as an E-100..

There are a select few in hiding who believe this.

If they are the same tank, just change the WZ 132 for the type 62, then find another tank to place in that tier

That's because the Cent was a huge tank.

One thing i was always intrigued about the Chinese Domestic armor, was that NORINCO a Chinese defense contractor(weapons firm) built damn near every tank, APC, and general utility vehicle yet there are multiple designations for the same vehicles. Odd and it could be that i am referring to post and pre-production vehicles but i think it may also be a bit of a gray area in terms of what we really know about Chinese Weapon Systems.

Wargaming should totally do this. After all I still remember when they shrunk the IS series down for historical reasons and made the Lowe even more fat for the same reasons once more.

Pro tip: just add the URL's for the images. That way it doesn't crash anybody's browser, and it won't squish the images so we can see the real proportions.  :great:

He just wants to revert the Type 62 back to the original, smaller model. Right now it's usin the WZ-131 model, which is somewhat larger.

It certainly looks like WZ131 model, and it had it when originally added.
