Not sure if this has been posted yet, but off of For the Record:
from the sounds of that HEAT is going to be close to useless against almost any kind of spaced armor.
Quote
- tracks act as spaced armor against HEAT in the following way: let's say a vehicle has 40cm thick tracks, which are 10cm away from the hull. In this case, if a HEAT shell impacts on the tracks, it will lose 5 percent of penetration for each 10cm from the point of detonation, plus the amount of penetration for the tracks armor value, eg. in this case, 5*(50/10)+25 percent from tracks armor value
from the sounds of that HEAT is going to be close to useless against almost any kind of spaced armor.

If it works like the garbage British HESH rounds, I'll have reason to get my FV4202 now...it's not like the other tanks are going to have it much better anyway.

specifically to beat HEAT? i'm not sure. but 40mm of tracks with 10mm before armor reducing the effect of HEAT by 50%? that's nasty.
40mm tracks, then 10mm or air ? that would reduce the pen value from ~102 down to 62 - .5% = 61.69 pen remaining.
[10cm = 100mm is 5% so 10mm is .5%]
where it matters is long travel areas like the PZ4. the heat round can lose ~10% of its pen value between the outside and inside armor. (unlike AP/APCR which loses nothing)
