Should I use the a-20 to get the T-34, or the T-80 to the T-34? I could also go from the 1s to the kv-13, and then t-43. Thanks for input.

I imagine the T-80 is a far less painful grind.

I just went through this. I went up to the T-80 and quit it because it was just bleh. Then went up to the A-20 and found I had amassed enough free xp to pass through half of it. So either way, just free xp it, both are pretty bad.

Pretty sure the path through the A-20 to the T-43 is less xp and less cash than through the KV-1S and KV-13 - you don't have to buy a tier 7 and then another tier 7. Of course, you then have the KV-1S unlocked and its a nice tank.

A-20 grind is annoying but its only Tier 4. You can do it in a week, maybe less.

Haven't played the low tier light tanks so can't comment on their grind. If I'm reading wotdb.info right, then the light tank grind through the T-80 to the T-34 is less xp.

I went through the heavy line (kv-1s -> Kv-13 -> T-43,) and I did not regret it.

Going through the heavy line gives you more options not to mention the KV-1s is a keeper.

I didn't play the early medium line, but from playing the chinese knock offs, I don't think they are very enjoyable.

If you decide to play the mediums, then I can say that the T-80 -> T-34 grind is not very bad, I didn't mind it at all.
(I did this after getting the T-62a because I wanted the T-34 for historical battle training rooms.)

EDIT: I just noticed you already unlocked the KV-1s, this should be a no-brainer.

The cost of the KV-13 is approximately the same as the cost of all the tanks you need to buy to go up the med line from the A-20.
Plus you save on crew costs.

I went through the KV line to the KV-13 and crossed over.  There is much to learn from the T-34, T-34-85 and T-43 in regards to Soviet medium play, so I'd suggest taking the T-60 rout up so you don't get stuck "scouting" in the A-20.

Myself I abandoned my T-44 grind so I could go back and play the lower tier mediums and learn more about the play style as it is completely foreign to me as a US medium driver.

I think that Ill just do the a-20. As of now my goals are the foch 155, T-62A, and IS-7. I am on the is-3, amx ac mle 46 (tier 7), and a-20, so im focusing on the others first. How long would it take to get a tier x from tier 4? I would guess about a half a year if you were grinding.

It'll be nice to have the kv-13 in your pocket. If/when the second Russian medium line comes out, it'll branch off of it (much like the new medium line came off the VK3002).

Depends on how focused you are on a specific grind.  If you just pick one and grind it to the end, it shouldn't take nearly that long.  Otherwise you will end up like me, perpetually broke...

Its about 1 million xp from the A-20 to the T-62A. If you  only get about 1000 xp per day, thats 1000 days. If you get 10000 xp per day, thats 100 days. Five thousand per day is more achievable, so, yes, close to six months, depending on how well you grind.

As for the KV-13, you can always go up the KV-1 line simultaneously. Take  your time, don't rush. The early tanks are fast, low armor, decent gun tanks. KV-1 is awesome. You can fit the KV-1S into the grind as you see fit, and then slowly elite it out. Then you will have the KV-13 and IS researched and can proceed down either line.

Free XP all the way thru everything so when you get to a tier 10, you'll be a proud owner of a 35% win rate, with a wonderful 234 efficiency while driving ur brand new tier 10... makes sense to me.. :bajan:  sometimes the grind is painful due to the fact u just don't like that style tank, which is only a precursor to what you'll see higher up..

Don't take this as an insult, take it it as advice.  Stop worrying about the fastest route to tier X and start learning the game a little better.  Your damage per game as well as your survival rate is really low.  Improving both will net you more XP per battle and get you to your goal much faster.

I heard Jsnazz is this months Loot Pinata.  Just kill him in a non-premium tier 4+ tank and you will get T-62A with garage slot.  Good Luck with this.

What did you find different between US mediums and Soviet mediums?

I am running up the A-20 line. Its a painful tank, but has a upgrade for the T-34 so I used that as my reason.

To me, it would make much more sense to go all the way up the medium line rather than cutting over from the heavy line.  There are two reasons for this;
  • By climbing the medium line, you get more experience in driving Soviet mediums
  • By climbing the medium line, you can work up one heck of an experienced crew without needing to retrain for a different tank type

I am crossing over from the heavy line.  For a medium crew, I kept the t-28 and started a new medium crew on it.  I've been waiting for the kV-13 to go on sale forever though!
