the B1 versus a smart wiggling matilda will not stand a chance, same with a valentine. the AMX40 is probably the toughest head on and the only one with trouble penning

Not stand a chance? If vs a newbie B1,not a smart B1, Matilda is annoying yes but not impossible to kill.

What smart B1? The one with a Luchs doing all the hard and unrewarded distraction while you go for side scrape?

All you have been saying is with good support and against players it will work.......what tank doesn't work with good support and against bad player? Wait, Valentine AT :lol

A smart B1 would be the one that know how to use it properly? When did I said it need good support? This tank can solo the whole team tier 3 and under :P

Even a good B1 against a meh matilda will lead to a dead B1 in a straight up fight, even with gold, cuz the B1 just doesnt have the consistent pen to rip the matilda to shreds, the matilda can tear through a B1 with ease if its not using the stupid 3", even the basic 2pdr can poke it full of holes

Occasionally I'm able to kill a matilda full health *shrug* Nothing is impossible

A meh Matilda would probably be using the 3-inch howitzer or the stock 2-pdr = instantwin for the B1.  78mm of pen won't do anything to angled 60mm armor.

good, point, you wouldn't believe how many noobs run the 3", but the 2pdr is fine, i took out an enemy B1(top turret and gun) with a stock turret and second gun just by shooting the turret while angling my hull, he kept pinging and i was penning like 1 in 3 shots(had a bad crew too, lol) but eventually got him, a matilda with 78 pen should punch through a B1's turret like butter, though a meh player might not know about it.
Also, I didn't say its not possible, its just that either that B1 has to be spamming gold/lucky, or a very skillful player against a moron in the matilda.

Well, when it comes down to it, the best thing to do against a Matilda in a B1 is to... not fight a Matilda.  But in the situations where you're forced to do so, like say running into one around a corner in Himmelsdorf, the best strategy I find is to get in close and abuse the B1's greater mobility.  Either use gold rounds and shoot the Matilda's flat surfaces, or maneuver behind her and shoot the rear engine housing with normal AP.  In this situation it comes down to a lot of luck: if you can dodge or bounce even a couple shots from the Matilda and pen most of yours due to the close range, you can win a DPM fight.
Alternatively, shoot up the Matilda while she's distracted fighting someone else.  Generally a mediocre Matilda player will put a lot of faith in their armor: if they suddenly start taking consistent damage they'll likely panic and start making mistakes or even try to pull back to cover.

Good point, thats a huge problem in this game, a  lot of people put misguided faith into armor, when the best solution is not to get hit in the first place. The Matilda is actually good at not getting hit because it hulls down like a beast

IMO the b1's a bully tank, it hurts everything but other bullies like the matilda, amx-40, duckling, valentine, hetzers etc. If you're not a silly idiot, tier 3/tier 4 td's aren't too dangerous, and the Lee is just adorable. Tier 5 is much more difficult, but thankfully you got good mm, you won't be seeing wild tier 6 tanks anytime soon.

You can still kill churchills in this thing, the b1's got the mobility and gun to pen weakspots, just play with a little brain.
Avoid anything you cannot pen.

pretty much any tier 4 TD should rip you to shreds with 0 effort except the total fail sau 40. And even tier 3 TD's are a threat with their decent view ranges, ROF and penetration+damage

Pretty much a dream lineup of enemies.

Why can't the B1 be like the lee? It's 60mm cannon would be awesome. That's what they would use to knock out panzers with after all!

All I have to say is that I love the B1 i have 180 battles in it and a 100 % crew training my frist skill on this tank, it's a fantasic tank in the right hands I got my second Top Gun with it, as it's been said a lot this tank is hard to master I have my mastery bage so if you want to get one in this tank your going to have to beat me good luck.

I'm sorry, but this tank just isn't that great. I'm by no means the greatest player, (most of my time was spent in beta, but I managed to get a tier 8 there).

If half of the enemy tanks are tier 5 you're pretty screwed. Even against other Tier 4's I find myself getting 3-4 shotted by most tanks. I just can't stand the gun on this thing, sure it's really accurate and fires fast but it can't really pen any tier 5's. I feel like I could be contributing much more on a different tier 4. Maybe a pumped up, upgraded B1 with modules and crew perks is good, honestly when I read the OP saying things like get up close to TD's and sidescrape them? Are you joking? What idiotic TD would let a B1 get that close? How in hell would a B1 close the distance even being sneaky, even with full mobility upgrade it's still sluggish and I have serious doubts about being able to pull something like that off with any type of regularity.

I'm not saying you can't do well in it. But is it the merits of the tank that's allowing you to do well? Or are you just going up against stupid people? I want to like the tank, but it gets old after a while going up against tier 5's. Again I'm not trying to hate on the thread, it just sounds like you're playing a better B1 then the one I'm experiencing lol.
