As most know, we just received our 5000 gold for the WOWP event.
While WG just gave us another giant surprise in the form of the amazing 50% premium TD sales.

Thus brings forth the question of which of the 2 should one get?

The Su-100Y is an amazing vehical if the player knows how to remain either unseen or target enemies who are distracted, but is extremely squishy for having no armor at all. Its gun has amazing accuracy for a Russian Vehicle while the speed and maneuverability is not bad at all when compared to the Dickermax and JagdTiger 8.8. However, one must keep in mind of its vulnerability to artillery as it is a massive target with no armor. With the new patch 8.6 that is likely to break mid tier game play with the possibility of seeing arties such as the S-51 and what not that are capable of 1 shoting this thing by missing, this TD may not have a very pleasant time at all.

The Su-122-44 on the other hand has amazing DPM for a tier 7 TD, but lacks penetration and accuracy when compared to other tier 7 TDs such as the Jagdpanther and T25-AT while its ammo is also expensive.

Please take the above information with discretion as I have only personally tested these vehicles on the test server, thus obviously have not thoroughly experienced them yet.

What are your opinions? Please vote and comment!

Thank you!

Note: it is actually possible to grab both of these TDs with the 5000 gold we have: 3250/2=1625, 6750/2=3375, 3375+1625=5000
So if you really cannot decide... just grab both! XD

Su-100Y.

Cheaper to run, hits harder, tiered lower, costs less.

And 510 alpha is so silly in tier 6. Slumping tier 6 mediums in one hit. Balanced as all hell, not even a BL-10 one-shots a medium tank one tier below it.
It's a glass cannon and not really OP despite my praise, but it's trollishly strong.

122-44, accuracy buffs in 8.6 make it a GOD.

But.. Su-100y is fantastic in 8.6.. Not kidding.. I was ripping people up on test in it.

Buy both?

I too am going to purchase one of these. I think the 100y has 2 loaders? maybe not, but that could come in handy for crew training.

Buy them both and use them to build a monster Russian TD crew.  Double up your exp and build a 263 crew from hell.  Best of both worlds.

The su-100y and su-122-44 are worth the 50% off price.

The 122-44 makes a lot more credits however, though it is not as good of trainer due to having only 4 crew slots.

The Su-100y is the opposite with ok credit making not great, but huge crew capacity.

Just don't get the at-15a its garbage from what i hear and looking at the stats it seems pretty garbage.

Edit: I already have Su 122 44, the Churchill III, the leFH18b2, and the Fcm 36 paK40

I don't fear SU-100Y's since i don't have to aim to pen them. They have no camo, so they are spotted easily, then you just shoot them anywere, pen and shed off half their health. Treat like a traditional TD, take the hit, track it, flank it, kill it. Or just sit in front of it because you can normally kill it in 2 shots before it finishes reloading, and you will penetrate it everytime since even it's gun mantle has crap armor. High alpha on paper, but this can be ruined when RNG gives you a 300 damage hit. I have heard of good SU-100Y drivers, however personally i have never seen one change a game in any pub battle i've seen them in.

SU-122-44 does the same damage as a KV-1's but has a 6 second reload, better camo, better speed, harder to hit, and at least has SOME armor. Shots to the gun mantle normally do not pen. You will also never be able to out circle it unless you track it first. The balancing factor sadly is that it has Abysmal aim time, Abysmal accuracy, and worse matchmaking than the SU100Y.(However you ambush a tier 9 from the side, 400 damage every 6 seconds adds up quickly) In my opinion i fear these things alot more than i fear an SU-100Y. I regularly see these things get 2-4,000 damage in a game, even when driven by average players.

Just my 2 cents.(I'm also a bit bias since i have many battles in the SU-122-44)

It was only for World of WarPlanes beta testers, if you played a certain amount of games in World of WarPlanes, WG gave you 5k gold into your account.

hmm... very informative, I think I am going to get the SU-122-44 then, since I am quite worried about the SU-100Y's squishiness + new arty spread + accuracy.

Thanks!
