I just had a match with this person in his Löwe:

Posted Image

We were holding a flank against an overwhelming force. This particular player potatoed on an epic level, died without doing a single point of damage and cost us one of the most powerful guns on that flank, allowing the enemy to overrun us. If not for the incredible, biblical effort of some of the other players on our team, this particular player's actions would've cost us the match right then and there.

Yet, all he did 'wrong', was spend $50 on a game he obviously enjoys and considers worth spending the money on.

This $50 bought him a tier 8 premium tank. It landed him in a tier 10 match. A match where even the next biggest newbie had atleast 3000 battles experience and atleast knew the basics like weak spots, armor angles and the like.

So, please .. If you're relatively new to the game, if you don't yet fully grasp the basics, if you haven't already ground up to about tier 6 or 7 on your own, please for the love of Odin, don't buy a tier 8 premium. To do so is the equivalent of buying an indycar after your first month of racing go-carts and expecting to compete. Someone who just picked up a hammer for the first time six months ago won't be asked to restore a multi million dollar church organ either, would he.

So what we have here is a player who obviously enjoys the game, deems fit to drop his hard-earned $50 on it, and finds nothing but frustration as he keeps constantly getting horribly murdered by people using black magic to pwn him left, right and center. Despite his best intentions, he ends up nothing better than dead weight on a team that might depend on him to help carry the win. And, as we all know, the WoT playerbase isn't very nice nor gentle. This player got chewed out and insulted for potatoing, he was called all manner of bad things.

Why?

Because he belongs in here:

Yet bought a tier 8 premium tank without knowing the basics, which landed him here:

So, please ... Spare yourself and your team the annoyance. Don't buy a tier 8 premium tank until you're ready to swim in the big pool.

While I'm sure SerB and co. love getting the money from premium tank purchases, I wonder if they'd be better off in the long run limiting them to people who have logged a certain number of games, or gotten up to a certain tier of tank.

Yes, the money from the Lowe is nice, but that player is now doomed to hundreds of battles where he is hopelessly outmatched.  His enjoyment of the game will suffer.  He will earn the ire of all who play with him.  If, instead, he were to learn the game in the more forgiving lower tiers, he might enjoy the game enough to eventually buy that Lowe, and some premium time, and some ammo, etc.

Spam Russian devs with E-mails requiring viewing of your god tier tutorials and PSA's.

The WoT playerbase might gain a few points in their Intelligence average.

I wouldn't even ask for a limit on what tier premie you can buy. Just a popup giving a fair but stern warning if the buyer doesn't have X battles would be - ... well, something.

Think of those players as good practice. Don't despise them instead capitalize on their stupidity and lack of experience. Sometimes in clan wars you are out numbered/out gunned consider it another training regiment for CW that's what I do and every time it happens I inch closer to being better than the man next to me in BAD.

Careful there Lert, you might get a warning for referencing religious material. And yep, this is 100% true. And for some reason I always get put on these guys' teams. And I get a 35% win ratio on a tank I'm trying to grind. And my hit ratio is 75%+ on my best tanks so I know It's not me. They should really balance teams based on the player's WN7. But that's my opinion.

This is why they should make it, so you have to have a certain amount of battles before buying x tier premium tank. x= tier number.

Just another thing our Vodka loving devs can do to screw up the game. Soon enough we will have 4 servers for North, South, East, West players all conflicting and in the meanwhile Skynet is plotting its infinite doom over CW like last night.

Probably wasn't even his money he dropped on the game. Prob his parents who spoil him rotten as parents do these days.  :sceptic:

But yeah I do wish there was some sort of limiting factor to buying high tier preniums, but I know it'll never happen.

To be honest thats how i got started and it was the biggest mistake i made in this game.  I bought a T8 kv5, didn't know the basics and did horrible.  so i walked away for a while, when i came back i started tier 1 and earned my way up.  My wr is still garbage though due to my terrible beginning but i'm working hard to fix that.

personally if the higher lever premies were unlocked by getting to that tier level i think people would do better

There should be an extended tutorial where you can go fight against bots - learn some game mechanics, get some practice in, rather than throwing them in the pool to sink or swim. (I remember my first match, on Campinovka, running the middle of the field and dying 15 seconds into the match, never set eyes on the enemy...) At least then you could practice with your premie before taking it out for reals.
