It's currently 1:45AM EST. The servers will be offline until 8:00AM EST. There's still several hours of planned downtime, sorry. It looks like they jumped the gun by roughly an hour.

Major server downtime is scheduled for January 17, from 7:00 am UTC / 2:00 am EST until 13:00 UTC / 8:00 EST.

Just to jump in on the bandwagon.

Server Split - ok, if needed for connectivity speeds sure.

Permanent Server choice - Not liking this. Should be a choice when logging in.

Website split - Why? Just add a layer to sections. News now has NA News & EU News sub choices for things that only affect one or the other. Everything else stays in News.

Forum split - Really a bad idea. For matters pertaining to NA and or EU only, add a sub forum. Why would there need to be a EU Creativity forum and a NA Creativity forum, etc.?

Sorry, i was out for a bit, and just woke up, but a fairly obvious question, How do we choose the server we want? will it be after the split? or do we send and email right now? or what overall...

I think the picture on the top of the update thread is very representative.
After the update, you'll make your choice when you enter the game, as far as I know.

For all of you who wants to know WHY forum is split and website as well, answer is simple:

US and EU versions will be slightly different in future (same as with EU/US and RU servers now) and it will be bad to have comments and infos about 2 different versions in 1 forum. That could lead to lot of misunderstandings, false reports of bugs and fights..
Nothing more nothing less..

P.S. if you want to play on both servers you will have to download 2nd client for other server - they will not be same, again same as Ru and EU/US server now.

I personally can't agree with the planed restriction on server swapping, I have friends who who will end-up split, and don't really like the prospect of having to either choose one other the other, or try to operate two accounts at once. With the impending hardwipe this matters slightly less in terms of retaining my current tanks, but it very well could have a negative impact on my long term playing of this game, unless there is a distributed database planed (Which is rapidly shaping up to not be the case). Regardless theres little I can do about it, but I felt the need to voice my opinion on the subject.

Server split is all fine and good and obviously there are reasons for it. However since this is beta and testing is what we are doing, banning an account on the other server really does not help testing. Seems to me you would want to have as many possible accounts everywhere for full testing. IE I am in the US, but I play with 3 different Guilds. 1 is US based, 1 is Australian based and 1 is EU based. As of today I now will not be able to play with them. Since the account data is there is should just be usable as it will get wiped out at release anyway. Might as well let US players who play with Euro's and vice versa see how both locations work out for them during beta. It will give the developers much more feedback than by making a forced choice. It could also provide some important data about network latency from different countries to the other regions. A one time ping test at first run is not always accurate. As mentioned in some parts of the world they do not always have the choices or capabilities others do. And the many Aussies I have played with can attest that one day their PING to a game server is great the next day it is pure crap. So if on the day they make their choice after the split see a ping that is not a historical representation of true latency to a location they may end up with a horrible experience and stop playing which is never a good idea.

Just my 2 cents. Waiting to see where I will end up, but alas one of my guilds is going to lose me at this point.

Devs are thinking about later once the game is in full swing and its not a bad thing. If your connections to the other side of the game whether its Eu or US are that important to you, you will take the time to make sure you stay in contact.

Server and Forum split +1. Although company battles will be very interesting for US players. Seemed the majority of the people doing them were EU.

Think about it guys/girls.........they can do what they want and we cant do a thing about it, so complaining is just a waste of breath !

If they act on anything we say here, its a bonus, but they always had their own agenda going.

Thanks for the answer, but...

I still really don't understand why the client should be different. In what way? Different language? Sure, I can understand that. But that can simply be part of the same client. Different versions of the game with different tanks and stats? That, I cannot understand...

Permanent server choice is as awful as it gets. I have friends from both sides of atlantic ocean and this makes me loose ingame contact with one half one way or another. MMO games should connect ppl, not seperate em.
