What does "group stage" mean? Is it actual fights or is it just a group stage for the next rounds?

group stage is like a bracket is set up with teams.
You fight all the teams only once. Winner gets 3 points, Draw gets both team 1 point, loss = 0 points.
The 6 teams with most points get to go to play off round.

The rounds after that are regular play off style matches. Two teams will battle each other, and the first to three wins (or best of three wins, can't remember which) will win the round and move on to the next day.

Considering the event's called the Olive challenge you may want to research a little about olives and olive trees in ancient Mediterranean society, it makes for interesting reading. The trees themselves take a long time to grow, and today are considered in their prime after they reach 400 years old (it's still illegal in a lot of areas to cut down or move them) and they can live for over 2000 years. In ancient society it was punishable by death to cut down a healthy producing olive tree. They were the mainstay for the economy of the time. Olives were used for food and more importantly oil. Without olive oil, the region would have been mostly in the dark. Olive oil was also used with a tool we call a strigil. This was what people did before soap came on the scene for cleaning themselves. When the trees were pruned, beyond producing olives or died, their wood was highly prized as well.
