Hey I was just wondering if there were any popular shell tracer mods. And by shell tracer mod I mean a mod that changes the color or perhaps the animation of the yellow line (or if gold rounds: blue line) that follows the shell. I tried looking it up on google but couldn't find anything significant so if anybody knows a mod like this I would appreciate it if you can share it thanks c:

Mods which alter tracers in any way are looked down upon (if not outright banned), as they can be used to create lines pointing at enemy positions.

Removing Artillery traces from the game was seriously considered because these mods exist and my guess is that they're ban-able...

Anything to enhance tracers is illegal. This includes making them bigger, more visible (color changes), having them appear on the map etc.

Just thought of something though. It would be cool to make the shells look like GI Joe/Star Wars lasers. Make them sound the same as well! All PEW PEW PEW ZEW ZEW ZEW PEW ZEW.

There is a hack that changes the color of the tracer, shows the direction of travel, and how long the tracer is actually visible on the screen. in other words a fired arty round would have a blue tracer starting at the muzzle and continuing a certain direction all the way to the point of impact. That blue tracer could be seen as a continuous line from muzzle to target for 15-20 seconds, more than enough time to follow the tracer back to were it came from and return fire.
OK don't get to excited, The NA server does NOT have an illegal mods list at this time and any MOD CAN be used, BUT this is not a mod, it is a HACK and is bannable. So NO you cant use it.

Well technically it is a mod, as you are modifying files on the client. Regardless, I don't think you should be posting those videos anyway as it just gives people ideas.

Well technically it IS a hack, its an engine run off your desktop, you don't put any files in the game client. And the videos are fine ,there just for informational presupposes as there are no download links and the hack no longer works.

There is a reason that WG turned off tracers of invisible tanks and is not planning on turning them back on. Its because people used tracers that where modded to show where the person that was firing actually was sitting. Which did hurt some of us that where able to use the ingame tracers with out modding them to kill tanks. (Had a Jumbo shooting me one match and was bouncing lined up my gun with the tracer and took a guess at the elevation unloaded a few rounds and got a kill. Didn't have to mod anything just used the tracers that where already in the game)

its hard to get a strait answer without getting trolled. Its always best to just use google to try to find something, and read what you find pertaining to the subject, before getting tossed to the wolves in here.

and i'm one of the "nice" ones

Yes, they were bad. however, I can do just as much by using common sense and a VERy accurate damage indicator(more than once have I killed an enemy whom was never previously lit off this)

Obviously, I wouldn't have asked something if I knew I wasn't going to get a legitimate answer.

Yeah, I been through this before....I should have learned my lesson already: NEVER ASK FOR HELP FOR ANYTHING IN THE WOT FORUMS. It's just bad karma due to a bad community. If I would have known about this then obviously I would have never asked...but I saw the world of tanks xbox version and the shell trace looked so fiiiiiine and I just couldn't resist to getting a shell tracer mod. So don't get me wrong everybody, I'm no hacker...I just like to have a nice looking game.
