Pardon the poor translation, but I found this regarding one of the early KV-1 encounters told from the Russian side...

cool story! but why is that KV there?its position doesn't fit to the story. and it doesn't look THAT damaged.something's wrong here :/

You are right. The picture is not connected with the story, of course :). I've never heard about the picture of Kolobanov's KV made just after that famous battle. But I have found a pic with situation much alike:
http://waralbum.ru/w...0s8osc4.th.jpeg
This KV was destroyed somewhere near Stalingrad after having shot down the German Panzer column.

A very sad picture of a Jagdpanther captured by US forces in early 1945, Southern Germany.

That JagdPanther looks pretty well intact too. Looks like there might be some suspension damage, but I wonder if it just had a mechanical failure, ran out of ammo or ran out of gas and they just abandoned it?

@GXPTG  I found it in an article on AchtungPanzer.com, they don't go into detail about it...

Near the bottom of the page is the picture and a small description.

Yeh... as I've read, they didn't put machine guns on first Ferdinands, and due to this problem whey lost lot's of them to infantry in the first battle they used this vehicles.

If I post a few doubles, feel free to mock me :)

A damaged Sherman at Iowa Jima, notice the wooden boads on the side.

A damaged Grant, with a Stuart in the background.

http://www.ss501panz...heminVVLady.jpg
All the black dots are hits from bazooka's. None of them penetrated the front armour of this Panther. Again a mobility kill, noticed that the track on the left side of the tank is completly gone.

A Köningstiger, this one with a damaged gun barrel, and damage to the plating over the tracks.

A KV2, severely damaged

I didnt think Maus actually saw combat.... :Smile-hiding:

"The working Maus prototypes remained at Kummersdorf and at the proving grounds in Böblingen. In the last weeks of the war the V1 with the dummy turret was captured by the advancing Soviet forces in the vicinity of the western batteries of the Kummersdorf artillery firing grounds. It had been mechanically sabotaged by the Germans before abandoning it."

Only 2 working prototypes ever saw the light of day. One had a dummy turret. Both saw action only once, when they recieved orders to drive away from Kummersdorf in order to avoid capture by the Russians. The Maus with the dummy turret was abandoned just outside Kummersdorf by the crew, the other prototype supposedly fled further but was eventually destroyed by the crew.

Same tank, different angle I think
