Meh, Monster shoots to one sector, everything in that area + 3 grids away from it is pretty much dead in one shot.
After that it can just become a massive battering ram, rolling over enemy tanks with just the sheer weight.

That sounds more like the aftermath of a Karl-Gerät shot.

Op? Nah.

This tank was never built but they drop the Landkreuzer P1000 "Ratte" design for the Landkreuzer P1500 "Monster" Artillery tank

The Ratte looks similar to the War tank on Advanced wars Days of ruin...

The first thing that came to my mind in seeing the ratte was "battleship tank"

The Monster made me think cannon that must shoot loltractors...  :D

Not that this hasn't been beaten to death already but I've always wondered what the purpose of mounting the Gneisenau guns on the Ratte was suppose to be.  Those battleship guns would have been over kill on anything but reinforced bunkers and certainly useless on traditional tanks.

Well a mobile costal artillery unit?

A mobile bunker busting unit?

A mobile city siege unit?

A mobile tactical artillery unit?  Afterall I'm fairly certain those rounds would not need direct hits to do major damage to concentrated forces.

Its pointless in reality though in my opinion if air superiority is not achieved.  Not that that's implemented ingame naturally but creating something like that which would require rediculous amounts of material and manpower, not to mention the support team needed for it would be assinine considering one aircraft even if flown by Stevie wonder could hit it and put it out of action.

Oh god, this topic again. I ran out of booze for my 'landkreuzer' drinking game the last time someone made a topic about it, just a few days ago.

Use the search next time, please. You will find 20+ topics mentioning both these machines. And you will find 95% of them LOCKED. Because of WAY too many topics about these ridiculous machines that have zero relevance to world of tanks.

Probably if implemented in WoT those guns would still bounce off T-54 front :Smile-playing:

And in reality those designs were absolutely useless. That's why they were eventually cancelled.

The P.1500 Landkreuzer, or "Monster," was a German tank design. It was proposed by Krupp in 1942, shorty after the P.1000 Landkreuzer was proposed. The project was cancelled by Albert Speer, the Minister of Armaments, in 1943. The vehicle required 4 MAN U-Boat desiel engines, and was 43m long, 18m wide, and 7m tall. It mounted a 800mm Gustav artillery piece, even though the project was designated as a Super Heavy Tank. Its main gun could only elevate and slightly depress, it could not traverse. This mamouth tank was cancelled before any prototypes could be produced.

moved from in-game vehicles to historical vehicles, the game vehicles section is only for those vehicles currently in the game or a re planned to be. /SE

It looks like it would be a good artillery piece to be an alternative the other high tier SPG, with how that one has just the nuke one which does the huge aoe, where as this one the P. 1500 could be a spg more like the russia & usa spg's high tier pieces:Smile_great:

@kaceyshadow
Thats exaclty what I was thinking.
The only reason I don't use German Arty is because I don't like the way it looks!
If this was a alt for the GW Tiger, I would grind through all the ugly German pieces to get to this, because
A. It looks cool
B. It would be epic
      and
C. It would be bigger than any tank on the battlefield, including the Maus.

Schwerer Gustav Artillery piece -
Rate of fire - 1 round every 30 to 45 minutes or typically 14 rounds a day.

It would load 1 shot every 2 to 3 games if they allowed the load time to carry over.
It was cancelled for a reason.

Well in the game, they would have to up the RoF to about 2 rounds a min so you could shoot enough. Plus, it could one shot a Maus any day!

You want a mythical insta kill arty? There are more feasible and better fitting options for high end SPG's than this piece of junk. Its bad bad IRL worse in the game and even trying to put it in removes any semblance of historic accuracy to the point of just making something up entirely from thin air. No again No.

It does not remove historic accuracy because it was a drawing board tank, so was the Leopard. So you learn history. 50% of the tanks in the game were only prototypes, and the Leopard was never even a prototype!
