I don't really care that much about the rumored 1S nerf. I'm well past it on the tech tree, and I only play it now for fun, and to train a crew that will eventually get swapped into a higher tier tank. However, it would be a shame to ruin the character of the tank because of complaints from players who's main problem is lack of understanding of how to counter it effectively.
I agree that the 1S is dangerous, especially to lower tier vehicles. That is good training for what happens in higher tier matches. Ever seen what happens any tier six when it gets hit by a BL-10? An ISU-152 armed with said gun can one shot anything at tier six and many tier 7 TDs. It can two shot anything at its own tier, and it is plenty dangerous to tier 9&10 vehicles.
I think removing the 122mm gun is a mistake. I hope they don't choose to do so. I'll live if they do, but the game will become a little more vanilla.
They don't. The Tiger, for instance, never mounted the L/71 88mm gun, but guess what it gets in the game?

Well they just spent a patch changing engines in a whole bunch of German tanks that didn't really even need it. The tiger is up tiered it faces tanks that where designed after it, Take away the gun and let it face the tanks it historically faced if historical accuracy is so important.

NO it is not! Is not the same thing to give 450 damage in one shot that the same amount within 3 different shots. Why?, simple, because you can miss one of those or the enemy tank can relocate its position between each shot. Or its the same thing to the Jgdpz E100 to deal 1000 HP damage in one shot than two shots of 500? I dont think so!
Whats next? Nerf the Chafee? Nerf the FV215B? Nerf every tank in the game that people says is OP? Really? Switching to War Thunder (Tanks Division) ASAP, or as soon as they "downgrade" any other tank!.

So, what your saying here is...
"It's the only tank I can win in due to it's 'redicules-for-almost-any-tier alpha', not that it matters, cause I haven't played in like... forever..."
I do agree that the 1S should not be nerfed, as I one shot them in my SU-152 all the time due to thin, poorly thought out, armor scheme.
In closing, if they nerf, they nerf; but it is not needed.

HOW TOnerf it WITH OUT tuching it ? EASY it should never see tier 4 Mediums & tier 4 TD
No more one shot kills that NO ONE LIKES with its 370 damage on tanks that have less than 370health.
Yeah the 122mm with 3.75 rounds a minute gets to be a huge handicap !
If you dont have Vents , rammer ,GLD and a 100% crew KV-1S is worthles.

It's nice to be able to thump a tank at medium/long range with the 122mm gun, ... if it hits, but in a close quarters peek-a-boom battle, rate of fire wins. All you have to do is wait till the 1S fires, then come round the corner and pop him twice before he reloads, and up close I've had my big Doom stick bounce. Now you're going to die, because he just got two more free shots. I would like to keep the Doom Stick, but maybe a 107 gun won't be so bad. I've said it before, we will addapt, or we will move onwards.

From what I read, the 122 never worked on the KV1s. This frame was more of a medium line build and had many issues including the engine. So when you speak of history, I think this tank is more fiction.
It would probably be better to align the guns with historical data, even though I know WoT also tailors the penetration and damage as they see fit.

Yeah right ... historically accurate guns? As if you're going to take away the Tiger's long 88 and replace it with the short 88. The German players (already prone to complaining) would go berserk.

The SU100Y is a slow, hardly any armor Mobile Home with a big gun. The community kind of brought this nerf on it's self. Look at the games at tier 6. How many times do you see 4 plus Kv1s's on each team in a fight? Name another tier 6 you see 3 or more of on one team? You don't, not even Hellcats, the other popular tier 6 vehicle. With WG's big push to be taken seriously as a E sport. They are gonna have to visit just about every tank in the game for balancing. We all know there are superior tanks at every tier, just like there are sub par tanks at every tier.

The D10T would be fine in the 1S, same pen as the D-2-5T, less alpha, better RoF, more accurate, MUCH cheaper ammo.

You do realize that soviet tanks are among the most realistic in the game, whereas the Germans get all sorts of goodies to stay even vaguely competitive. Its most evident in the way most of their tanks get late model/fake model armoring schemes whereas other nations tanks like the KV1, Crusader, Cromwell and Comet all have to make do with the basic armor layout. If you want historical, make the PzIV and pzIII armored to 30mm, after all, that was the armor on the basic models, going by upgrades, KV1 should have a 110mm hull, all around iirc for the e model, but we dont see that do we...

Or you could say if the game was completely historically accurate, then the German tanks would dominate.

Which is exactly why the Germans won the war...oh wait, is that what happened?
Really though, if you want historical accuracy, we could have 3 Tigers fight 15 M4s or T-34s. My money wouldn't be on the Tigers.

is the gun the only thing they are going to nerf? because I'm thinking of getting it.

can someone please tell me exactly which 100mm gun kv-1s will get to replace 122mm and if possible which other russian tank already has it? thanks for your time guys.
.
On the other hand, I do really want the 100 mm gun because I tend to like guns of that caliber and I'd like the higher RoF.
