Welcome to the Anime General thread on the World of Tanks forums. Anime related posting has been a large thing
on the World of Tanks forums for quite a while now and this thread is a means to
contain bring interested users
together without swamping the forums with content.
Anime is a shortened version of the word animation in Japanese though for various reasons the word is used
to reference a particular style of art and genre of animated art usually Japanese in origin. Manga are comics
drawn in a style we would file into this particular style. The style is largely dependent on the artist/animator,
resulting in many studios developing their own "brand" of style that they may be recognized by. It's not just
art however, anime allows for different kinds of stories and story telling that we are hard pressed to show
or visualize as the medium (animation) allows us to more easily depict events that would occur in a story.
Different animation styles also serve to depict different tensions and the emotion an artists wishes to portray.
Anime is almost always generated in Japan and as such it is important to remember that their society and
cultural norms are different from our own. Sometimes lingo, jokes, behaviors and other things may seem
foreign and alien to ones you know or you may not understand something, if that is the case you may understand
over time or seeking out context/context clues may provide more light on the scenario.
As for enjoyment, it's simply a personal taste. Each person will have their own reasons for liking something.
