The only problem with a guide like this is getting it to the people who need it.

Nicely done though.

This is the best guide for new people that I have ever seen.
And that is because you are looking at the game through their eyes.  There is not crazy amounts of information that will overwhelm a new player, and the advice is practical and easy to follow.  This is the kind of guide that I might link a prospective new player to.  Which is the point guys.  This is going to get to them unless we use a guide like this to help ease our friends into the game.

Very well done.  Will direct all the new players I run into over here.

Thanks for taking the time to write this.  Saves me from repeating myself over and over and over...

Thanks man. I've noticed a lot of players that are suffering in-game because of some really poor garage decisions. So most of the rest of what I'll be posting tomorrow will focus on crew and garage development. There are tons and tons and tons of guides for folks about how to play in-game, but few on how to optimize your garage actions.
Not everyone will agree with my methods, since they tend to be fairly patient and prioritize efficiency over rapid progress. But I think I can make some good points. Yes, alt account is naughty, but I'm hoping that'll be forgiven long enough to let me get about 200 or so battles onto it, so that I can continue making visual aids.

It's wonderful that the "Game Events Manager" would endorse anything written by a known game events cheater.  Perhaps you don't get why many players would find that an extremely boneheaded thing to do.
Let me see if I've got this right.
1) KingAlphyn wins a T-59 in a marathon.
2) Revealed to be a cheater. (And the rewards revoked.)
3) Revealed to be using an alt account. (Even openly admitting it despite being against the rules.)
4) Writes a noob guide. (Even though the vast majority of the info has been covered in other guides.)
5) Suggests breaking rules in guide. (Creating an account to practice, then restarting.)
6) Get's positive messages from not one, but two moderators.
So... either the rules are a farce, and will never be enforced... or WG looks "the other way" on rules violations of top players. Regardless, this is a horrible policy.
I understand, you don't want your best players bailing on the game. But maybe you should consider, I dunno, every other player in the game.

How come all you Negative Nancy types don't do this when I put up my modpacks for public use?
What is so terrible about constructing a guide for new people?
Are you jealous of the new people because I am paying more attention to them than to you?
I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was being neglectful.
You guys might consider the following: I spend a fair bit of time helping people to get better at the game. I've been doing so for a long time. The modpack I've been assembling since 8.1, 1-on-1 time with newer players both in my clan and out of it, helping to keep 4 clans running, one of which is chock full of newbie goodness. Not to mention the forum content that I've created over in CR/D for your entertainment. But in the face of all of that, you've come to a place where I want to help out, and started trying to drag my name through the mud. Is "The Avengers" garbage because RDJ went to jail for doing drugs, once upon a time? Or, perhaps, is it good work by a fellow who did something dumb once, but normally does good things?
This issue was dealt with months ago. Week-long account ban, ban from all contests, and removal of the prizes associated with the illicit action. So let's maybe keep on topic from here on out, and stop disputing moderator decisions [6hour R/O], yeah?
(P.S. I didn't get R/Oed there, I was just illustrating that some folks are pushing their luck by calling Rampage and Leara names.)

Yeah, KingAlphyn made a mistake, once. He owned up to his mistakes, took his lumps like he had a pair and didn't once complain about it. This to me makes him a far better man than any of you people who can't seem to get over the fact that OMG he did a bad thing once! As if all of you are angels who never did any wrong, ever..
.
You wanna hate KingAlphyn for the rest of your life? Fine. Go ahead. He doesn't give a toss. But that doesn't make his newbie guide any lesser for it.

No, the fact that he's my clanleader has nothing to do with this post. I don't get paid in gold for posting this, I was not asked or told to, I post this because I honestly believe that there are a few haters in this thread who'd do well to Get The Frig Out.

I think there should be a post from a Pub Only player on how to play.  I am thinking of doing it myself.
My 2 cents:  Things I wish I had done, and would be better off now...
1) NEVER DISMISS A CREW.  You lose all the experience gained, which impacts gameplay of future tanks.   When I was a wee noob, I merely sold the tank, dropped the crew, and got a new crew when I bought the new tank.  Critically BAD thing to do after tier 3.
2) DO NOT RUSH THROUGH THE TIERS.  Get to tier 2, and sit there.  Train your crew. Get them through their training (100%) and through their First Skill or Perk.
3) DO NOT ADVANCE TO UPPER TIERS UNTIL YOU CARRY 30-50% OF THE MATCHES YOU PLAY. (Carrying a match = you kill 4+ enemy tanks.)
4) DO NOT ADVANCE TO UPPER TIERS UNTIL YOU SURVIVE 40% OR MORE OF THE MATCHES YOU PLAY.
5) Learn how to shoot. What? Just point at the enemy and click, right? Wrong.  Learn how to aim, hitting the weak spots, and maximizing the chance of doing damage.   Learn how to track your enemy, so others can kill.
6) Learn to TEAM play vs INDIVIDUAL play: Focus on supporting your team, not on individual kills. Look at getting the win through capture, not killing.  Makes more points...
7) Platoon with a better player than yourself.  Whenever possible, platoon with a player with a higher win rate, and play wingman.  Follow them, protect them, as you learn.   See how they play, and gleen points on how to do better.
As for the past transgressions of the original poster.  Use his past rule violatons as a learning opportunity.  Do not violate the rules, and you do not get your account barred for a time, or out and out banned....

Nothing wrong at all!

I think the best way for you to look at it is this:

They are trying to show you how much they envy your guide, they tried to pick the green button, but being color-blind pups, they missed!
