Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Starting next week (10/8/2013), Tues, Thurs and Sat will no longer by 7 vs 7. Instead, we are switching to a 5 vs 5 format with a Tier 8 limit. Good luck!!

Im pretty sure there is an error... it says the tuesday october 7th tournament... unless its not happening this year, the date should be the 8th, right? or maybe WGA got their shit together for once. who knows. i could see WGA messing up, but not the second option.

5 V 5 now with tier 8's, dang man. Tier 7 really needed some form of competitive use and now it doesn't have anything. ( it was also a bit more balanced IMO )
But whatever, this will be HT's first daily blitz ( hopefully we can get coordinated )

Yep, that is an error...looks like I need to read a calendar better  :hiding:
It should be Tuesday, Oct 8...the registration open and close dates are correct though! Thanks for letting me know   :great:

I love Tier 7 and am definitely not opposed to running them again in the future. Honestly, I love feedback about how the blitzes are going an anything y'all would like to see possibly happen (or not happen) in the future.

Maybe alternate them between 8 and the odd tiers that don't get so much action.  the 3 V3's are tier 6, tier 6 already has a home in medium companies. maybe make them tier 7? ( The 3 V 3's )

Maybe doing something like a daily blitz where you start on Sunday with 3v3 and by Friday its 7v7 and Saturday could be a random selection like a 5v5 tier 2 or something crazy like that.

This would allow a wide range for all players of all levels would then be able to get involved into the tier that they're more comfortable.

Can I ask the reasoning behind it being just tier 8s 5v5? Is it because people don't like to play in tier 1s? That they undervalue the role tier 1s play? I always found the tier 1 scouts to make the game more open, and less campy, and are very useful tools when used properly.

I have taken a break from the 3v3s, because for 80% of battles if my team didnt push then it would just draw out in a camp. With only 3 tanks you can't cover large portions of the map, so the enemy can sneak in if you aren't careful, so it seems like the majority of teams strategy was just to camp near their base. Its difficult to justify sending one tank away from the other 2 to scout for you on the other side of the map, if your timing is bad you will get attacked 3v1 or 3v2, so teams camp near their base in a group.

Honestly it felt like my team nearly always had to "do the work" of the matches, find the enemy team, advance into them in some fashion and decide the battle, otherwise we would just have a nice chat while a tank game ran in the background.

Adding tier 1 scouts to the mix gives you eyes on parts of the map where you havent commited your main force. You can send a scout to figure out whats over that hill and not risk 1/3 or 1/5 of your tier points being eaten by guys hiding in bushes waiting for you to make the first move every game.

I'm not even saying i really like tier 1 scouts, but I don't like camping, and I do like interesting setups that are not just all one breed of tank (all tier 8s, all tier 6s). Lets get more odd point setups like tier 8 5v5 with 38 available tier points(do i bring one tier 6 scout, or maybe 2 tier 7 heavies...?) tier 8 7v7 with 46 tier points(bring a tier 5 scout and a tier 1 scout or two tier 3 scouts, or bring less tier 8 heavies and substitute in some 7s...), or tier 6 3v3 with 15 points available.

The combinations are endless, I dunno why it seems to always be either all one breed of tank(only tier 8, only tier 5), or all one breed of tank with some poor guys stuck in tier 1s. I vote for more variations in the future, so more tank combinations become viable, the more variety of combinations that can be used will increase the fun factor and increase participation.

We decided to start the 5 v 5 out with a very similar format to the 3 v 3 - all one tier, enough points to bring that tier. Depending on how popular the 5v5 format is, I am definitely willing to change up the tier points, make it so that there need to be lower tier tanks. That won't come immediately though; I want to try this format for a couple of weeks at least.

If this is something that people are interested in, I think it would be interesting to make some different changes. Thank you for the feedback and keep the suggestions coming (especially what y'all see NOT working).

Thanks.  Hard to get the word out when our clan is mostly evening gamers and have day away-from-WoT commitments.  The tournies fill up too soon for our members to join a created team.

Great games.  Thanks to the organizers in providing a venue for some fun non-pub gaming.   This was a first WoT event outside of CW and TC for those that participated from SWORN and BOUND (shameless plug, yes, BOUND is recruiting).  Hope to battle again in the DB.

To bad, really is to bad.
Tier 8 has a good number of staple tanks, while tier 7 offered a bit more variety and flexibility than the "standard tier 8 settup" Which includes IS-3's, ISU's, 50 100's 13 90's and sometimes KV-5's.
While at tier 7, virtually an tank could be used to moderate success. As their was no staple settup.

These are nice, however I wish we had a bigger window to register, like a week in advance or something, the whole 24 hours to sign up, doesnt seem to work well, (at least not for our clan)

I like the changes made, I really prefer tiers 8 before the previous tiers 6, and 5 instead of 7 per team. It just suits our team needs perfectly.
Just one question, the blitz are played by groups, the 1st and 2nd of EACH group will recieve the prize and that's it for the tourney? Thx

Glad that you are enjoying the format!

Yes, the first and second place team in each group will receive a gold prize. So, if there are 4 groups, there will be a total of 8 winners.

I agree with this, the 7v7 team battles we are looking for will be here soon enough.  5v5 tier 8 is comparable to 3v3 tier 4.   At least 3v3 tier 5 let you dominate campers with the OP chaffee setup :P
