This thing sucks turns worse than E8 seems to actually stop less shots and starts with a pee shooter machinegun wtf.....

I just got one shotted by a Jagtiger how... there was not crit hit no ammo rack ect... i looked at chat just poof dead one hit really this is depressing I dont even want to grind in this thing now...

Not only that so far every shot has taken my tracks off this is by far the worst medium I have ever tried ... guess ill try the KV tactic and get biggest gun park in a bush and pray I dont get spotted and try to snipe....

/endrant

It gets better, but if you didnt enjoy the E8, you wont enjoy the t20 or the t23.

Personally 3 of my prefered tanks. rammer, gun laying, vert stabilizer, fully upgraded with 100% crews  they are a lot of fun to gun on the run

i didnt really mind the t20 once i was able to get all the upgrades but it doesnt get any better as you get to the T23 and Pershing.  They can barley outfight a PZ4.  They take massive damage from smaller guns and the 90mm cant penetrate anything.  I can only damage the same or higher tier tanks if I'm using HE and then the damage is at most 8-10%. If i use AP it bounces or no damage.

The american tanks are the worst tier track even though the fireflys 75mm HV gun could penetrate 5 inches of armor.  With what they've done with the T54 I'm surprised they made the American tanks so weak.  Its a dieing line of tanks.  No one wants to use them and pretty soon all you'll have are T54 battles.

I don't think the T-20 is as bad as most of you say it is.
Granted, I've never gone far up the tank trees with any other nation (except german TD's), but I personally found the T20 a lot of fun to play as. As a tier 7 its cannon is acceptable; you can 2-shot a PZIV most of the time and the other T-7 tanks armor is rarely an obsticle. You can usually penetrate the turret of a King Tiger and I found that you can reliably go through an IS-3's frontal armor if you line up the shot right.

Now using that same cannon on a T-23, starts to be a lot less fun.

Yeah, me too. I used 110% crew (100% repair) with Vert.Stab, Rammer and Toolbox in order to get my tracks up in a few seconds.

I had a lot of fun from the E8 up to the T23. Fun stopped with the Pershing becouse of its ridiculous repair costs and low credits gained in battle.

The US medium at Tier IX is a bad joke.

JT has the best gun in the game, more powerful than the Maus.

If you don't like a type a tank, its a safe bet you won't like the next tank in the tree, so I would suggest just try another tank tree/nation because that tank line is probably just not right for you. One of the biggest problems in the game are people's preconcieved notions of what is the best tank.

You simply don't get 1-shotted by JTs.  It's impossible without ammo rack/fire.  More likely you got shot at the same time by multiple tanks.

The T20 isn't a great tank, but it's not that horrible.  It can't turn that well, but enough to do a horseshoe hook for a fast drive-by raid (don't do the circle though, it doesn't turn good enough).  It can do most tactics you can do with a E8.  It snipes pretty well, and 160mm penetration is good against tier 7 and capable of penetrating pretty much all targets on the side, although not terribly reliable to those with huge side armour like Maus or IS-4.

End of the day: you just try not to get shot.  Armour is meaningless unless you're fighting tier 4.

I have only played a few matches with my fully upgraded T20 but i still dont like it, it is superfragile and cant do anything else then sniping, it cant turn, accelerates like a turtle, doesnt bounce shots EVER, seems to take full dmg from every shot it recieves, so no i dont like it and can certenly not recomend anyone to go up us medium tree cos they are all flimsy cornflakes boxes
with guns on them, waste of time and effort imo.

I really like the M7 tbh with 6 pounder good speed accell turning low profile... plus the way the tank is shaped I have bounced more rounds on my M7 than E8 or T20...

The M7 feels pretty solid for its tier as long as you dont eat a TD too much  :D

The E8 while a little weak felt better so far then my T20 and it bounced more shots than my T20 so far too... I think American Mediums really need some fine tuning...

I just got a T29 and feel like a beast in that thing even only with the 90mm feels like a solid tank so far....

i Love the T20.  Its quick, has a good punch, and its small.  If played correctly it can have a real impact in a match, even a high tier match.

That said.. there is something truly satisfying about popping tanks in one shot.  I didn't get experience that until I got a T29 with the 105 and got tossed into a low tier match.

T23 is one of my favorite tanks....as you get further up the trees you need to pay attention to play style because they get very individual.

I'd be more willing to try and grind this tree if the US american mediums had decent guns...

I have to agree with you on this.  Make the guns a little more powerful and this wouldn't be so bad.

I love the T23 still under powered as far as the gun is concerned.  But fast and pretty good in turns.  Plenty of times i've gone around a tiger and won.  Not happy with the damage it takes even from smaller guns though.  US tanks aren't really that well thought out IMO.

With all respect, its not a matter of preconcieved notions. We all know that WoT tanks are mainly fantasy tanks.

Since you all talk about balance, it is crystal clear that the Tier VIII T23 (prototype/fantasy tank with Tier VII cannon) and Tier IX Pershing (tiered against a 1950-1960, up to Desert Storm, tank) must be re-worked or re-positioned.

[EDITED for mistakes]

Sergeant is right, preconceived notions about the best tank is not the issue.  The issue is keeping game balance and people willing to play the tanks from all nations.  When you make a tier IX tank that has trouble taking out a tier V then you have a problem.  The 90mm US gun was an anti-tank weapon similar to the German 88. (http://en.wikipedia....mm_Gun_M1/M2/M3).  The US also made a 120mm gun that could be added to the tech tree. There are also reports of a super Pershing that battled a Tiger II and won. (http://www.3ad.com/h....pershing.1.htm)  Plain and simple they need to make the US tanks more competitive or get rid of the line altogether.

T20 when fully upped isn't that bad. I'm using it to mantain my Pershing (no premium test), and it works damn good.

As soon as possible put the 105mm gun, with He on that you can damage heavy target too. When 90mm will come... well you'll do only better ;)
