Woot! I just tried to launch and the updater failed on the first attempt but on the retry it went right in.

Then, when I tried to log into NA West, it went straight in.

Not going to log out and try again to see if it was or wasn't a fluke...

Good luck folks! Maybe they are fixing it? Or whatever the problem was is getting sorted out?

This is being talked about in a number of threads. I have a "work around" posted in this thread here:

That is odd, I just double click it and it opens straight to the "select server" screen. Make sure you have exited out of the launcher and any other WOT program before trying.

With russian server upgrading to 8.9 tomorrow oct 29th.. I do hope this issue is fixed before the release in North America.. If it is going as normal that would be 2 weeks after russian server.... 2 weeks to figure out the patch server .....

I also have this problem. It appears to be load dependent. When the updater fails, at times it will get bad data and issue a warning. The Play button appears, and if pressed, the client starts and you go to the connection splash screen. If I select the NA East choice and hit connect, it will connect, the game will operate. If I attempt to connect to the NA West server, it fails.  On an attempt this morning at 5:30 MST, the updater worked fine, I logged into the NA West server and played a game with no problems and very good response times. The users were around 9000. Now, it is back to failing as the user level is probably 34000. When failing, the World of tanks web sites and the support sites also fail with no response, probably a time out, or I get a partial populated screen after abnormal wait times (maybe 15 sec). Other times, the updater will just fail and give a Retry button, which fails. I have read the log. It is the same as the other person sent. The IP address for the updater I get is: 162.213.61.124. I am on dsl from uswest. All other internet sites work fine. This eleminates problems with my system. I noticed I was in a game and the server reset in the middle of the day during the game. That was the point the failures started. You might notice I was a paying premium player. I noticed that the player level on the East server has been much lower than the West server, (probably due the lag on the east server when first used) until the problem, now they are about equal, which may give you the extent of the problem you are dropping into. I have checked with other local players, who have not seen this yet.

I tried to get into NA West tonight only to have it fail numerous times, so I went with NA East.

That was fine for a while and then my tank started driving like someone else was controlling it. I'd try to turn and it wouldn't turn - but then would turn a circle after a long delay. As it was going way past where I wanted it to turn to I would let up on the turn to go straight and it would be forever before it would go straight.

It ended up getting me killed big time.

I looked up and my ping times were at 999 ms.

Whatever is wrong with the servers or network was OK (for me) as little as a week ago but since about mid week last week, it's gotten unplayable.

This just stinks.

Having the same problems here. Please acknowledge this issue admin.
Have tried every single potential fix or work around that has been discussed here on the forums - to no avail. --- TY forum users btw!
Very frustrating being a paying customer and getting no help!!!
A simple "yes we're aware and working on a solution" would put me (and many others) at ease.

So i haven't heard from tech in 2 days now.. Still having the patch server issue with the NA client only... Common test works fine and so does EU client... Again i can play the game fine, i can play on both east and west with no issues, I just keep getting the patch server failed thing with the NA launcher.... So 8.9 is to be released Thursday oct 31st, Will the patch server still have issues then?? Some feed back would be appreciated, Like we are aware of the issue, We are working on the issue, etc etc.....

Mine's still getting stuck. Can play the game itself, but the launcher's still getting the same error. I suspect its not on our end.

It hangs on Updating localization package: checking for updates...

Then it times out and says "Warning The data obtained from the update service is incorrect. For details, see log"

Your reply is appreciated, but that has nothing to do with the problem, if it fixed yours, it is a coincidence. That is about like saying, "put air in your tires if your car wont start".  :)

Mine seems to be working fine this evening.

Thanks guys for all the ideas and stuff.... Defragging has nothing to do with this issue. I have done several different ways. It is due to a connection error to some of the nodes connecting to the west/east server... I am in the Pacific North West of USA so it was localized to my area i believe. Also, If you DO NOT run it with admin the error will come up... Now i always run it with admin privlages and its working fine both west/east servers. I didn't have to run it with admin before...
