I just recently bought a Panzer III Ausf. A, and I need some advice with it; can anyone suggest some tactics with it? Or should I just sell it, get a Panzer II Luchs, and follow down its line of research?

Thanks :)

Well you're a scout so act like one. Try to scout as many tanks as you can, don't stop at one place so you don't get shot. Learn how to drive and avoid shells and heavy tanks.

That's pretty much it but I think you will get enough XP and money to upgrade to the next one. Which is PzIII and the pain will begin. :P

Granted- Most people would consider me a relative noob- but I find that the Panzer III Ausf. A is a pretty effective skirmishing vehicle, and I disagree with the opinion that it should be considered as just a scouting vehicle. It's speed is definitely handy, and can be used to scout, but (without any factual knowledge or experience to back-up my claim), it's been my experience that other vehicles handle the scouting role much more effectively, making me feel kind of useless when I chug along out there. The Panzer III Ausf. A can't go toe to toe with many of the medium and heavy tanks that it tends to get paired up with, but it's versatility makes it pretty deadly against other light tanks and it allows you to take advantage of many opportunities. With those nice engines and treads on it, you can zoom along the battlefield and past deformed battle lines during late game to take out artillery and assault the base, or, you can quickly get away when you find yourself facing a tank you don't really want to mess with. The ability to mount the 5' gun on it allows you to pack quite a punch when targeting smaller tanks and some large tanks but is still insignificant against larger armored units. Basically, this tank handles like any other light tank, just with perks. I tend to play it safe and zoom along to where I'm needed or where I can do the most damage. Though you may feel like you want to zoom ahead to the front, hang in the back of the frontal wave of light tanks and hide behind cover. Use the 5' to land decent hits on anything you can safely engage without overly exposing yourself. Play the tank as a support unit and cruise around the battlefield to where you will have the most impact. Yet most of all, this tank is the best for taking those golden moments when they arrive. If you find a safe opening, zoom through the enemy lines and wreak havoc with the enemy artillery. Make effective use of flanking maneuvers and sneak attacks, and use the speed of the Panzer III Ausf. A to your advantage.

To me the Panzer III A is nothing but cannon Fodder even vs my PzII Luchs.  I think I can not even recall ever losing vs a Panzer III A since I started using my Luchs.  Though I've lost to Panzer III mediums. Much heavier armor, and they do not die from 3 hits from my 5cm gun.  Pretty much the Panzer III A is a bigger, low profile Panzer II, with no real great fire powerful improvement until you get the 5cm gun.  It is easy to disable since it's tracks are pretty much it's entire side.  Takes me 3-4 shots to kill a Pz III A using my Luchs, almost 1 shot with my Marder II, guaranteed, rarely if ever not penetrate it's armor with just about any gun I've ever fired at it.

The Panzer III on the otherhand, sad story for it being one Tier higher, it worries me almost as much as a Panzer IV, I've had them kill me in 2-3 shots, with my shots bouncing off every other shot fired at them.

Over all it is just a substitude scout tank for those whom do not want to waste their time with the Luch/Leopard dead end tree, a bigger and easier to hit tank, with less mobility at that.  I think there was one match I destroyed Three Ausf A Panzers with my PzII Luchs, it was lovely.   B)

Then again I'm getting darn good with my PzII Luchs, I'm brave enough to charge a Panzer IV with the long 7.5cm gun without much worries as long as I know someone will shoot at him while I distract.  Comical earlier today, put my tank behind an unaward Panzer IV and just kept shooting as fast as I could drove up and hugged him, right as friendlies get a zero on him and opened fire, he could not get away, he tried to aim at me I just ran away from his gun... he went up in flames in less than a minute after being spotted, despite having that huge turret and powerful gun, he never fired a single shot.

Pz III is a great scout. But whan you get the 50cm gun I find it an effective sniper. Granted I got my largest kill ratio with a 35t. The PZ III, I use as a sniper or Arty guard. when the BTs show up I get my hits in entill he gets tooo close and my turet moves too slow. it is a great tank for the lvl but upgrade as soon as possible.

Yes.. the 5cm gun for the Panzer III A is easily amazing.  I use it on the Luchs, the exact same gun, it is amazing in Tier III battles vs most enemies.  Not for damage per shot but for rate of fire and accuracy being good enough to captialize on it.   I find myself after I had a full upgraded Panzer III A doing just as good as I would in the Luchs.. though sadly the PzIIIA is just so slow no the turn, though it is easily a great sprinter.  Though I think I would have to vote for the Luchs being a superior all around vehicle, PzIIIA is just bigger, slightly faster, less agile, and barely more HP.  Bigger is a key to why they're so easy to kill in my opinion, hard to miss a PzIIIA. hehe
