I am not a unicum. Far from. I'm just an elevated potato with a better grasp of theoretical than practical gameplay. Better at peaching than at practicing what I preach.
.

Lert, please teach us how to preach your preach.

Thanks, its rare to see unicorn tears.

When they gush unicorn tears, the really horrible side of what passes for their personality comes out. Its hilarious to watch/listen to/read their melt downs.

Especially when its re-posted on forums, youtube, twitch for the rest of us to enjoy.

I tried taking down a unicum. But he shot an arrow at my knee. So now I'm back to stage 1.

Great..now I see my problem. As much as I would like to rely on potato shields I'm typically at the front lines (unless I'm in my Wft Pz IV) trying to make opportunities for my potato team-mates to shoot targets.
Alas, they always seem to fail me and sit 200-300 meters behind me shooting at the dirt, looking at the sky and generally just being idiots....
I should let my potatoes get mashed instead of myself it seems.

Considering this is not a scouting unicum...

Then you need to just know where unicum will spot and blind shot him.

Lert is exactly right on this.  How many times does a match start with someone on your team saying "Kill xxxxx first"   or "Concentrate on yyyy"?   If you ask them why, they will say "because he is grape"  or "He is the best player on their team".
Often the best strategy is to kill everyone else first.  Well, the very BEST strategy is to play normally and if you get a good shot on the guy, take it.  Odds are, you won't get many shots on him so simply kill everyone you DO get shots on and before long that good payer will be outnumbered and unable to pull out a win for his team.
It is exactly like the Kill the Sheriff - or whatever they want to be called now - games.  i HATE playing against teams with the Sheriff.  Why?  Because it makes so many people on my team play like morons.  They lose all common sense they may have and take giant risks for a paltry sum of gold.  And usually they die fast and the team fails horribly.   Same thing when playing a unicum or,  even worse, a big name unicum.
Don't go crazy trying to get him. His game is aided when you forget the basics and go out of your way to kill him.  Your game is aided when you stick to solid tactics.  Play YOUR game, not his.

Don't.

Unicums are, by their nature, by and large buttholes. They'll use their pubbie potatoes as eyes, as meat shields, as pawns in their grand game of strategy. Oh they can be real nice people on the forum and in person, but in the game, most of them are buttholes who play a dangerous game of chess with their pubbies as the fodder which they'll happily sacrifice if it furthers their goals: doing damage, beating you, winning the match.
.
Lol Lert another good guide

If you dont want to deal with a unicum, play tiers 5-6 like i do. Anything above tier 8 is filled with tryhard elitist shitwads and not fun in my opinion

Lert you should make a thread on how to identify the unicums if a person doesn't use XVM.

At the end of the game, when your whole team has been methodically dismantled, look at the top of the enemy scoreboard. Chances are, that guy is a unicum.

Unicums=had tons of battles/re-roll account/stat padder. 80% all talk. This match I was in earlier to tonight, this platoon of idiots on our team flipping at me for "sucking" since I mentioned at the beginning of the game "I'll do what I can, stock, but have DCA 45 90mm" (this was in my newer AMX AC mle. '46) What this platoon said: "You should just uninstall it's s*** players like you that ruin this game don't buy a tank if you can't upgrade it right when you buy it." Sorry sirs, but I have limited resources and if I want to endure a stock grind like 75% of the rest of the games players, I will. Here's what they did: (this match was on Abbey) charged headlong down west flank and all three were immediately obliterated by an enemy platoon of T29s and 2 Hellcats. "Unicum platoon" damage done: 0. I nearly carried the team to victory, but my 2 surviving comrades threw it and I went down fighting. My damage done: 2691. And according to this platoon I "ruin the game". Mm hmm...they're easy to kill, they're like the sith. Just exploit their cockiness and pompous overconfidence, and behold how the mighty shall fall.

A few things I see wrong with this.  Now I may not be unicum, but all around I find people calling me a good player.  Personally, I prefer winning over anything, hate losing tanks on my team and will go out of my way to help my teammates (maybe the reason I'm not purple yet).  I get annoyed at people not finishing me off because they spent all that time shooting and damaging me and then they leave me alive!  I mean...what the hell is wrong with them!?  All leaving me alive does is draw my attention to that/those tanker(s) who will promptly find themselves down to minimal/no HP remaining after a few of my shots.  I also always advocate communication and cooperation on my team.  Yeah, yeah, call me a hopeless romantic, but hell, when it works, it works well and it reduces the population of pubbies if by 1.

Not all good players can be lumped up into one stereotype by our beloved Grumpy Cat.  The real long and short of it is if you want to defeat those purple guys all you have to do is work together with your team.  No purple player can stand up to 3 on 1 of similar tier if they all cooperate to his demise.

Folstagg, if you think that about every purple, take a look at -G- and try telling that to them.

XVM won't tell you whose pegged half your hp off already, or whose flanking you, or if the enemy team is luring you into an ambush. When you're being shot at, whose unicum and whose not doesn't really make a difference. Without XVM telling you, the unicum is basically the guy doing the most hurt to you and your team at that particular moment, it doesn't matter if that player actually is unicum or not, the more hurt you take to less time you're going to last no matter whose doing the damage.

A king without pawns is no king at all.

Be careful. A Unicum is commonly platooned, meaning that not only do they have their pawns to further their goals and as expendable pieces, they are commonly flanked by 2 rooks. You must watch out for the rooks. They are the late game pieces of a king, when there are no longer pawns around.

I have noticed that in tier 5 ( the tier I play the most ) blue and purple players are playing arty and getting 5 or more kills. When the rest of team are tomatoes and potatoes, arty can really carry the day.

But just as often I see them playing in platoons of those evil, disgusting, little PZ ICs charging into the midst of the enemy spawn point where all the tomatoes are still forming their lemming train and devastate the lot of them.

Just my $0.02 worth...
