I feel the need to clarify why us unicums and bluenicums are..."butts".

When we are in a game and we have to carry a bunch of 45%ers, we don't appreciate it when one of said 45%ers sits behind one of us because they don't want their paint to get scratched, thereby blocking our retreat and keeping us in the line of fire to die so they can continue being useless.

Unicums hate bad players (I believe the server average for winrate is somewhere around 48%) because they are often times not only useless, but detrimental.

I was playing a tier 5 game in my Pak40 platooned with a friend in a Pz 1 C on Lakeville. Said this at the beginning of the match:

"how to lose"

"go valley"

"how to not lose"

"dont go valley"

Some clown in an M5 Stuart decided to spite me by telling the whole team to go valley, and got about half our players to follow him. Had a KV-1 go middle road, and some other things went bad, but it mostly sucked because half our team was being useless at the valley.

Anyway, at the end of the game, the enemy team is talking about how much our team failed, and the M5 announces that he doesn't like being told what to do, so he went valley...

That is why the average unicum hates the average pubbie. They not only have 0 ability to win the game in the event that we die, but they make an actual effort to lose the game.

Opposite DutchDemon's experience....when pubbies take advice from good/great/unicum players this is the result.

I have no fear for individual unicums,  Unicums are like spartans, 1 on 1 they are better than you, but really not by that much, it is when they are platooned together that they are truly dangerous.

I would argue that unica are more akin to the queen than the king. The queen is an exceedingly dangerous and valuable piece. Furthermore, it is almost always necessary to remove the queen from play before victory can be achieved. Likewise, it is sometimes a necessary gambit to sacrifice the queen to secure the win (this is what happens when unica die early but still manage to decimate the enemy team prior to expiring). Finally, both unica and the queen are capable of dominating the entire playing field if they cannot be kept in check.

Part of me agrees. However, my intent with writing this thread was to try and stop potatoes from throwing themselves in front of the red team's potatoes guns just to take a risky shot at a unicum. This is how potatoes get farmed, in my experience - they see a high value target, they just about throw themselves in front of gun lines just to try and get that shot. You need to look no further than the average kill-the-pro matches to see this effect.

So lert i know unicums hate bad players and all and they receive flak but it seems often that people need to stop assuming that someone does not want to learn the game nor try to know thus them just calling them out before asking advice.Hence my problem of being able to do well and play well but cant seem to do it consistently but thats just my two cents

dont give him easy shots (since most higher skilled players are much better at aiming and shooting weakspots), dont drive into a open area if you know he is in the area, and overall try to focus fire on him if given the opportunity

most unicums ive seen tend to prefer sniping and long range engagement, so take a route that denies them that ability, hes still a big threat at any range, but at least he cant abuse camo or shooting skill anywhere near as much

overall, just be sure to take a shot if you have it (as better players are way less exposed usually) and dont give up, you will die to these players alot, but dont make yourself an easy kill by doing stupid things like driving around where there is no cover at all, showing him your weakspots, ect

still, biggest threat is a platoon of em, thats you NEED to have numbers on your side, and sadly if they are coordinated there is little your team can do unless they are at least semi competent and either snipe them to death from camo or just swarm them with numbers, since most will focus fire very well, it makes sense to just send say 5-6 of your tanks, a numerical advantage of that sort is hard to fight off even by a experienced platoon

Lemme try to be funny.

Hey Lert, you could've added this in the end:

"Once you have miraculously killed the unicum, try to ignore him in chat, as the dead unicum will rage without end. The unicum's popular rage topics:

  • Bad team players
  • Bad team deployment
  • Your stats
  • His beer bottle

If he was in a platoon, and they're all miraculously dead, brace yourself for the gangbang of above said topics."

I found that the majority of unicums are much too busy carrying, trying to carry, or analyzing where they went wrong to rage in chat. It's only a (very) vocal minority that gives the group a bad name.

How do you know if the guy is a Unicum?

The thing about unicums is that whatever you do, they'll outmatch you so long as you aren't one of them. I'm at a point where I have a good idea of what an opposing unicum will do, but not outplay him 1 on 1. So I try to whisper to my pubs where he's going, perferable so he looses important HP early on. In my experience, most unica are very aggressive, vying for vision/map control. Given there are some that damage farm, but not a majority of them. Of coarse they count on having potatoes take the shots for them, but if you can force a bad engagement on them they can derp really hard if they can't escape. You'll always see a purple run from a fight that he knows he can't win. If you can prevent that, he's not much of a threat anymore, at least more then a green.

Alternative strategy- use a tank that has massive alpha (FV183, for instance) and simply click on the unicum once.

Yes very good. Being blue is a good pace no...not potatoe shield but not unicum to be watched.

I see bad players saying these things more often than good.
