About This Mini-Series

.
This is the discussion topic for the week-long Clan Spotlight mini-series about NASA Clans. In short, NASA was the first super-alliance in Clan Wars, and was able to lock down a huge majority of the Clan Wars income. Consisting of just 16 Clans, they were able to take in approximately 200k gold per day.
.
With this mini-series, you'll be able to see several influential players' opinions on the NASA days and several perspectives on the early, final, and post-fallout days of NASA.
.
We'd also love to hear from more of you who were involved in NASA, so please, feel free to share your perspective and discuss the old great behemoth that was NASA.
.
Please keep in mind that even after all this time, there are some disagreements that carry on to this day. Please keep discussion civil and remember we're not in CR/D.

If you had to guess which Clans could make up the current-day NASA, who would be a part of it?
BarrooM - [-G-], Relic (all divisions indivisible under Loz), Petco, SIMP, Havok (Even though Simp and Havok are fighting the Relic bloc, I still think they should/would be included). If RS became active again, maybe those guys too. Unless something drastically happens to warrant another NASA, I don't think you will see it ever again.
Yawh - I would suspect the following would; [-G-], Relic, and all of Petco. Of course they would want others to join as well but those would be the main ones.

What was your proudest achievement for your individual Clan during the NASA era?
BarrooM - Watching the implosion of the clans that thought they deserved more than they were worth. Forge wasn't at its height at the time and we held our own against some of the self-proclaimed "Best Clans" in the game. After the split, I told our guys to buckle up for a tough long set of fights. One of the best things I think I've ever said during that time was "Look guys. We can lose 3 games to these guys and it won't matter. We're supposed to lose. We take 1 game from them and they will rage, they are not supposed to lose to trash like us". It really stuck. And I'm proud of how everyone in Forge at that time dug in and stuck together. Also, shout out to the old "Scrub alliance" members (SG especially).
Yawh - I would suspect the following would; [-G-], Relic, and all of Petco. Of course they would want others to join as well but those would be the main ones.
That copy and paste skills. .-.

I should add, we were very close with Panzacs too. Genafra and co were really fun guys to work with. So many hilarious pin drop moments in NASA meetings like when Gen told Voth he would drop stacks on him that night if he didn't shut up. I'm actually shocked he didn't, Aussie's are a proud lot. Took a lot of talking him down from the ledge in order not to do it.

The other one was when Voth insulted KillerofLawyers and TS and coined the famous "Stand down civilian". Reports are that Voth lied about his military career as well. I don't think I'd ever heard KoL go that ballistic before. Called him a jack boot thug and some other really nice choice words.

Those meetings were almost always worth putting up with just for the small moments like that. Oh and the "Who the @#$@#$ are you?" moment... lol.

For a second I thought they were going to make fun of "NASA 2.0".

Interesting read nonetheless.

It's funny how much Baroom and Chair's other threads about this covered.  It'll be interesting to see what other clans (not NDP/FORGE) are going to say about NASA in hindsight, because those two did a really good job getting their side out to the general forum.

Props to everyone for doing this.

nagatron - We didn't stop fighting for months. Due to a miscommunication we went to war with SSGS almost immediately after MLP fell. Shortly after that RS decided to declare war on us so we stuck around to fight that for a while until we decided to pick up entirely from that region of the map and head west. After a few-days-long campaign we stormed France and quickly established a reasonable pile of gold and began to settle down. With more free time for tournaments we joined the Absolute Power tournament and won the whole thing. This was really key for our reputation as very few clans thought we would win. After this victory we gained a lot more respect and were finally seen as a major power on the map.
I gotta ask nagatron, where was the miscommunication in that last bit? I specifically laid out a framework for any diplo relations(specifically, keeping us as a buffer between you and AOD) and you guys agreed to work within that framework. The next day, you pushed chips past that boundary and your officers said, and I quote "What do you mean we couldn't move chips closer to AOD? That wasn't part of anything we talked about".

Our only regret is that they should have painted the map red.

Brings back memories of another game I used to play. Ikariam on the US server's Alpha server the top 6 or so clans split into two alliances and no one but the rival alliance could touch either one because none of the other clans could build a big enough alliance to challenge them. They also eventually fell apart when the rivalry was no longer needed(Not so much no longer needed as half of each alliance fell to inactivity after the second server war)

I did look for those threads, but somehow came up empty. I may have been using some wrong keywords. If you have a link, I'd be happy to add them to the OP.

Was a good site for what you seem to want, but it has been down for a while, I'm not sure if it's coming back..
