Why does WG persist on letting players from 5000 miles away play on the server.

I thought that sectors had their own servers now.

To see the ping fluctuate from 30 to 90 is sickening.

The server goes well and you know its because they are asleep on the OTHER
side of the freaking world.

Warping tanks that Captain Kirk is surely driving are hard to hit because the
server can't calculate correctly. And nano secs in time differential screwing
many a tankers shot.

I have a 15mb/sec line and its a shame I can't even get the maximum
potential out of it the other players half way around the globe are.

Is it that hard to put a restriction on players that are losing packets
and are timing out for more then a few millisecs  per minute?

i've been getting fairly low ping most of the time, although later in the day, (i play on the West server) i get large out-of-nowhere 999ms lag spikes that last for about 10 or more seconds.
Especially irritating in CW, it's gotten me killed multiple times.

I thought this didn't effect me very much (20 ping average) until I realized that it makes the laggy tanks jump all over the place.... kind of ridiculous how you get punished for playing with low ping.

Why would WG do that?  Money.  I don't know why people keep thinking WG has any goal other than to make money.  To do that, they need to have players on the systems.  WG is a company.  Companies make money.  Period.

There are only server clusters in NA, SEA, Russia, and Europe.  That leaves out MOST of the countries on the earth.  So they connect to the server they see is best.

Your ping rate has nothing to do with someone 5000 miles away.  If they lose packets or have a high ping rate, it just means they have to play with a low FPS.  Only if there was a DDoS attack on WG's servers from 5000 miles away would that impact you.  A ping rate of 30-90ms is great!  many players play with pings of 200ms+ every day.

Ping rates have absolutely nothing to do with bandwidth.  A ping rate has to do with how fast the packet travels to the destination and back.  The amount of bandwidth (in your case 15/mbs) is how much data can be pushed through per second.  The game will never use all of a 15/mbs connection even a fraction because all its doing is communicating position, other players actions, etc.  All the game files and textures are stored locally.

Ya I had that earlier this week too. You just freeze on screen and then your dead.

Ping has nothing to do with it, the lag is happening in WG's datacentre. The pathetic thing is how much money they make, but things like this happen.

I get 30-40ms ping, and yet shots like the link in my post are far from uncommon. I had matches in CW last night where I would click three times, then have a second delay... then suddenly my tank fires. It wasn't just me -- other members of my clan had it.

Kind of hard to be competitive when it feels like you're on dialup, no?

Listen son, I am playing on this server from Sicily.  On NA East my ping never goes under 180 and can get as high as 300 consistently.  On NA West my ping never goes under 200 and averages about 250.  When I battle I am shooting not at you but where you will be when the server registers my shot.  Complain about ping all you want but given I can do above average with what I have and if you are saying 90 is tough you need to reassess yourself.

You are right maybe we paying with OUR money on our NA server should answer WG with withholding money.

You are right money talks they just might listen.

Why WG want to reject money from people 5000 miles away from their server?

Anyway just like you I've been lagging too since yesterday. Ping jumped 20-40 from normal but the lag bulb kept jerking off.

Lately, Commy Cast has been doing some maintenance (Saw their vans down the road) so my connection has just dropped all of a sudden.

And believe me with the rig I have the only problem is them and always giving me their lagging position.

30-90 isn't bad lol, I have been getting 60-120 recently with spikes up to 300 at times of peak usage. It's not the fault of foreign players, but of the crappy servers that WG uses.

Like I said a while ago when the other side of the world sleeps you get a solid 35 ping so its not the server here

I never, ever had a problem with excessive lag until late last week.

Random games tank will go on autopilot, over shoot where I put the brakes on by 25m or more.  over rotate.  click the gun at a stationary target.  noticeable hiccup.  "we got them" - then the tank blowing up animation.

last night, whilst platooning with some clanmates my poor T-71 went on autopilot straight into the middle of sand river.  I was smashing on my keyboard trying to get it to turn, or stop.

all in all I had a decent enough weekend in terms of w/r - I had some x5's ruined however by such nonsense and the team going on to win the game after I find myself blown up 200m from where I was supposed to be...

Ping and lag are not the same thing. I'll have a 25-40 ping and still get the little red lag light. Those problems come from cheap ass Wargaming and their crappy system.
