1st off, I hardly ever post. After a few games getting ragged on about my T14, I got angry and then went to work. You must use gold and know how to play this tank if you are ever going to anything noteworthy with it. If only this tank had a 10% better gun.  :glasses:  But man it can bounce!
I am no pro... probably average at best.
With that I give you:

This was at Pearl River. I was the only tank that went to the bridge. I proceeded across to the choke point between the building and rock. Every tank that advanced on my position was destroyed. My finest battle in WOT.

Coincidence?

I disagree on having to use gold to use the T14 well.  It's more a matter of picking your opponents and knowing weakspots.  When I drive the T14, I only use gold if I run into a problem situation like a T-150 bearing down on me.  All tier 5 heavies except Excelsior can be dispatched with AP into weakspots like LFPs, driver ports and machinegun ports.  The same holds true for several tier 6 heavy opponents as well.

What the T14 is good at is slugout fights with low-armor tanks with it's fast ROF combined with a decent alpha strike.

Never mind the fact that a Hetzer usually beats the T14 1v1.

You are totally missing the point here.

RedSun, like I said, you have to use premium rounds if you plan on doing anything with the T14's pea shooter. :(

The T14 is a very under rated tank.  I can not for the life of me figure out why people love the Church III yet rag on the T14.  The T14 has absolutely troll armor, I will angle and stare down KV-1s.  The only time I even have to switch to gold is when its a tier 6 game or I see a Matilda.  It plays like a heavy medium more then like heavy.

This is why I dont play tanks that REQUIRE premium ammo to be effective.  Whats the point?

You are dead right there. I think the RoF is WG's way of trying to offset the, IMO, pea shooter the T14 is equipped with. It has good armor if you angle it right. However it is really susceptible to arty 1 shot kills.
The point I was trying to make with the thread is simple. I think the reason why I am successful with the T14 is that nearly everyone I encounter automatically dismisses it. It is so underrated. I play this tank very aggressively as well. Sometimes that works really well for me, other times not so much. LOL

I guess you'd hate to know that is all I use on any tank. Regardless of tier or opponent. Helps make up for my shoddy tank skills. ;)

GG, ignore the hatorade, looks like you have an idea of the tanks strengths, now you just need to reproduce the performance on a consistent basis.

You don't need to use gold ammo against an M7 paper mobile or a marder, alecto, pz1c, yada yada.
and a KV-1 is pennable with 96mm of pen, just gotta hammar the driver's hatch.

Thank you, I really appreciate your comment. I was hesitant to post because I figured I was opening the door to get trolled. However, I was so proud of my T14, I had to post. I am not good at WOT, let me have my moment. ;)

I keep trying new tanks. It takes a while to learn them. I should probably start reading the forums for upgrade paths & tactics. I bet it would help my progress tremendously. Right now I am pretty much guessing and using trial & error. I dont know what my overall stats are, but I bet that is painfully obvious.

When you are out numbered 7 to 1 you do. Heck even 2 to 1. But like I said. I use premium ammo to help offset my shoddy tank skills. Sad? Maybe, but at least I am honest.
I'll keep that in mind about the hatch. Usually if I see a dome on the top of a turret or gun port, that is where I typically aim.

Well, not really.
The flat(-er) part of the kv-1's front armor is only about 85mm, drivers hatch being around 50.
domes on top of the at-2 are inpen without gold for the 75mm, you'll need to spam gold there.
iirc it's something around the 110mm thickness range for that derp dome on top of the at-2

How do you guys know all this? I am impressed at the knowledge displayed in this thread. I cant even begin to fathom how long it must take to know where the weak spots are on all these tanks! Staggering really! I know to shoot the turret on the matilda or is it the churchhill? LOL I suffered a TBI during one of my 3 combat tours so I have memory issues. :( On the KV1 I am pretty sure there is a flat surface on the front I aim for like you mentioned. I need to figure out the T150 like was mentioned above. They kick my butt easily.

experience.
Played a lot of mid-tier / high tier tanks, got to learn the general weakspots of many tanks very, very fast.
Learning curve takes a massive rocket boost to the sky around tier 3 when you meet your first heavies...
It then takes another boost at around tier 6 when tier 8 monsters start popping up (ISU-152, T28, AT15, King Tiger, KV-4, etc.)
BTW a lot of nations share general weakspots (IE germans have weak, flammable lower glacis plates where their oiled transmissions are located)
