going in orderL
ARL V39: the top 105 and 90mm are great guns. no ability to hide, but can snipe ok. bad gun stats make up for the insane pen at tier. if you seriously play this stock, you deserve all the hate your team heaps on you.
Sau40: ehhh. hetzer wannabe.
Pz.38 na: decent light in the right hands, which wernt mine.
M3 Lee: great tank. gun is good, if positioned awkwardly.
Lorraine 40t: no comment.
B1: meh. popgun felt ineffective.
AMX 40: good armor for tier.
DuburschSWAGen 2: no comment
Aueful Panther: no comment.
Churchill GC: no comment.
also, odds are a lot of the votes for a given vehicle are from people who haven't played it.

For a TD, the gun is the most important. The ARL gun is good for T6 (it is a T8 gun). It does good damage and has good penetration. If you compare it to a JagdPZ IV, which is a nice TD with a CRAP gun, I prefer 10 times more the ARL. Lets compare those 2: speedlimit almost same, armor, ARL 60. JPZ 80 (both crap), hitpoint almost same. Camo didnt find it, but I presume the JPZ is better. Now the important part, the topgun. ARL penetration 212, JPZ 132. Damage ARL: 240. JPZ 220, accuracy ARL 0.36, JPZ 0,35. As you can see, the stats are  almost the same, except for the penetration. And that is why the JPZ is crap and the ARL not. The JPZ cant penetrate heavies at the front, the ARL can. That is why the ARL shouldnt be on this list and the JPZ should....

The 90mm's horrible aim time combined with its terrible gun traverse eliminate any advantages it has over the 105mm. The 105mm, granted, is a pretty good gun. However, it doesn't make up for the myriad of other worthless bits on the tank.

It is a damn shame people don't know how to play the M3 Lee. You don't peek a boom, you don't maneuver, you just out DPM *anything* you are facing. Treat every encounter as your last and fire fire fire. If you live, move on to the next opponent and repeat.

I never had a problem with the gun performance, my problem is with the high profile/bad camo and very much with the gun placement.
Sure - in a city if you can stick the right side out and shoot then you don't have to expose much of your tank.
BUT - on many maps you are trying to crest a hill and despite the decent gun depression you have to reveal far too much of your tank just so that you can get your gun where it can shoot the enemy. The gun not being on the top of the tank is often a HUGE disadvantage.

On the other side of the coin - fighting against the M3 Lee is fantastic!
Often when they take cover the top is sticking up and I can shoot the hell out of it.
When they try to crest a hill I can shoot them before their gun can point at me.

I've played the M3 Lee on this account and then again on another server (was EU then moved that account to SEA) and I really hate that tank!

SO you prefer the JPZ IV with the non-penetrating gun over the ARL? For me, playing the JPZ IV was much more frustrating then the ARL....

The M3 Lee isn't one of the options.  :sceptic:
EDIT: Ok now it is. 'Bout time. However, the Pz. 38t na is by no means bad. And T-43 should be considered. It is pretty bad.

I agree with you on the pz38t, but wholeheartedly disagree about the t-43. I LOVED that thing, and it has bouncy armor, and although the gun didn't do that much damage per shot, it did pen pretty well and had a very good reload time.

I'm surprised with how many people voted that the B1 was the worst. I love my B1 and it's among the list of my favourites. If played right, this tank can be awesome but I guess that's the same for all tanks...

AMX-40 is a pretty bad tank, I have it, and had the AMX-38 (previous tank to AMX-40) and still, I think that the DAMN AMX-38 IS BETTER THAN THE DAMN AMX-40, HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!!!!!

I liked the B1 more than I expected i would, but not enough to keep it after I picked up the G1.  If there was a tank that would benefit from a two-gun set-up this is the machine, even if you could only fire HE from the hull gun.

Looking at the choices I'm going to have to go with the Scout Panther and the Churchill GC, just because their lousy reputation proceeds them.  On the other hand, I'm finally having some good games in the 2801 so I may have to reconsider my choices; but not before the Tier VIII German scout is released.

As for the T7 I just think it's a cool tank, and have thought so for about 30 years; run it like a serious scout and you'll be fine.

Having enjoyed the AMX 38 I expected so much more from the AMX 40.

French TDs I can't speak to.

Glad that I was far beyond having to deal with the DW2, but you can't expect much from Tier IVs; I will say that the 3001H as a heavy is nothing to look forward to.

Well, I haven't exactly played the JgdPzIV, which also sounds pretty bad. Maybe we can declare a tie, the JgdPzIV for having no penetration, and the ARL V39 for having nothing else.

I don't see the Valentine anywhere on this list. I don't normally hate on tanks, but that thing is absolute garbage for its Tier.

Vickers MK III.  You know it's bad when you see arty with more armor than you.   :sceptic:

The Panzer 38na is actually a pretty good tank for its tier in my opinion, but it has absolutely terrible matchmaking placement, often finding its way into tier vii and tier viii battles. Most of the time you can't pen even the thinnest armor of many enemy tanks except other scouts or spgs (which is usually 5 or so enemies max, often only 1 or 2).

The only time I felt the B1 was decent is when it was top tier against idiots. When angled, tier 3 tanks just cannot pen it. My Ace game had me going 4 tanks on 1 and just picked them off one at a time. 1700dmg, 3300 potential damage and 9 kills. Sold it 2 days later when I finished the grind to the BDR  :teethhappy:  Most of the mid tier french tanks just end up dragging my WR down!

Nice thing about most tanks on the poll list, they are low tier. So no prolonged pain!

I also feel that the Lee gets too much of a bad rep. I didn't like playing it when I was going up the American medium line when I first started playing. Went back to get the T1 heavy & M6 and actually had a lot of fun playing it.

Ha, I suggest you play with the JpzPzIV and see if you still agree with your own statement.   :blinky: , or read this topic: http://forum.worldof...55#entry4255955

I think the DW takes the prize, it has the rare blend of no armor, no mobility, no useful gun, AND fires.    Most of the other tanks on this list at least have *something* going for them (albeit not much).
