somehow in my old PC (Compaq Presario CQ40) it took 1 1/2 hour but in my new ASUS it is taking more than 12 hours (already 14 hours and half downloaded)
Why it happens?
how long does the game take to download

Yes depends on your download speed. Your Mbps or Kbs. And the type of computer parts varies between computers. CPU/hard drive/Network.
I got a 60mbps download so i got this game in like 5 mins or so lol.
Welcome to the game

Desktop here took about 15 minutes, laptop took about 3 hours using wifi, probably would have been quicker if wired in directly.

Like everyone said ... depends on your connection and hardware. I have a 2 year old HP comp with a core 2 duo, on wifi. I had the game installed (dont remember how much time it took to download) but upgraded to Windows 7 so when I downloaded the second time, after 7.4, it took me about 25 mins. I have a 15Mbps connection with Rogers here in Ontario, Canada.
My average download speed was about 1.8Mbps.

The download is a Utorrent file so be prepared to sit for a long time..
I never understood the mentality of this company, why not just offer the download file like all other websites?

The 7.4 client is 2.9GB.
I would recommend bit torrent to download. Faster than the direct download option.

I'd try turning off torrents in the launcher menu settings.
My isp s anti torrent, and turning off torrents was the only way to download in under 17hrs. The standalonen only takes me 45mins by direct downloading.

Tip for the day...
Don't let the client update itself. Instead, download the patch from the main site and let it install. At lunch, I was letting the game patch itself and it was taking forever. I stopped it and downloaded the patch instead from the main site. Took 10 minutes tops from start to finish. Didn't get a chance to play the game since I wasted time with the auto update and I had to go back to work.

Auto patching works fine. Sometimes it might be screwy, but most of the time, it's fine. If it first fails, then sure go to the website. Just a matter of individual results.

LOL. I am not ashamed to admit, on a slow day when I literally have no immediate project/test to run, I load up a few matches on the i5 INTEL HD 3000 powerhouse of a laptop on the company LAN. It is basically as fast as twice the speed of my fantasy home internet connection (probably not) and ping is usually stable around 30-60, with rare 300-999 rolling spikes. Friendly firewall is friendly.
