Interesting, though, I still don't understand the whole percents part of it, like the tanks weight, etc.

Why are teams so unbalanced?
Like lopsided wins or loses, is this in the programming of the match maker?
How can there be so many good or bad players on one team?

[The matchmaker ignores] the players' skill.

Is that so?

Im sure MM is balanced if you consider the 100s of thousands of battles played in a day, but it doesn't seem as balanced during the 10-15 games I play a day.

I also wish there was way to take into account the map being played.  Its not exactly fair for one team to have three more heavies on Himmelsdorf.

I feel Scouts have to much battle weight considering their role isn't as specialized as it was in the past.

Hmm, Great Video, I studied Computer Science for a couple of years, and i see how delicate and how complicated this sort of mechanism can be. To make something like this can take weeks and months or even years, yet people constantly repine about it, having little to no cognizance of how hard it is to make a mechanism like this. My only predicament is: The winning and losing by landslides.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Yes i know, skilled match making has slim to none chances of being implemented, but admit it, the battles which have close outcomes are the most fun and challenging.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Isn't this what world of tanks is about? Is it not all about challenge, and having fun?
I hate playing games where the score is: 15: 1-4
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
If skilled mm is implemented, the game will constantly be challenging, thus exciting.
Lots of you are probably thinking: "But that is why they effectuated team battles"
Team battles are great and all, don't get me wrong, but usually i only have time to play random games, as i'm a very busy man, some of you have lots of time on your hands, but i have places to be and i'm sure i'm not the only one.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(i'm wasting my time suggesting this, and it has been suggested countless times before, i know, but when i see the chances to win are 20% or lower, my heart sinks..)
(40% - 60% is acceptable to me, but 30% and under is very vexatious. Not to mention, XVM is wrong at times, but the majority of the time
it is comparatively unerring.)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Edit:
Skilled MM is a
controversial issue, many people disagree, i'm not exactly for it, but i'm getting sick and tired, of being sick and tired of trying to carry games that i know are impossible to win. I just hate it when i end up with a top gun, having the only 6 kills and doing over 6k points of damage, where i simply wasted my time. I get full xp and credits for the game, but that is a loss which goes on my Permanent record.

I would like to share this:
I was laughing so hard, i couldn't breathe. I was just there clapping like a retarded seal.

I couldnt load into the game, so i force quit. When i logged back in, the battle never existed and didn't even go on my record. :amazed:

No, explain the lopsided wins and losses, can't be that many good or bad players on one team without help from the match maker
ever notice in one of those games there are no Top Guns, maybe one or two players with multiple kills.

The lopsided wins/losses are most often about poor deployment of tanks vs. good deployment.
This is a player thing and varies with luck and skill of the players.
Also, once an avenue of approach is chosen, do I fight aggressive for defensive, again, a player decision.

Good video.... I was a computer programmer in my younger days (COBOL & Pick Basic)....
Glad MM works as well as it does.

So that's why matches are so lopsided: MM thinks tier 9 and 10s are equal.

Seems that every time there are multitudes of complaints about something in the game and lately there have been dozens of complaint threads about MM....WG manages to come out with either some long spew of written crap trying to justify it or some bogus video, and just because they do, does not make it so.....there are way to many one sided or lop sided matches which all boils down to WG, fix your MM!!

Per the video, MM looks at the players tank, not their skill.

Equipment, upgrades, crew skill and player skill are ignored by MM. Their theory here must be the law of averages will even these aspects out. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

The video was consistent with my prior knowledge except for the indication that tank weight is not considered for Tier 9 and Tier 10 battles (all given the same weight). Maybe this explains why more of these battles are less competitive.

Thank you for the link.

TRANSLATION:
"We work this system by partially hidden varriables that really don't have much of anything to do with what is actually going on. The varriables have less to do with the impact that a tank is likely to have on the battle or the amount that a player might contribute, and more to do with how many of each type is online and how the tanks are rated in our weighting system... which we'll keep hidden so we can say that 'everything is working as intended' no matter what questions are asked."

None of my questions were actually answered, and most of my disappointment that the biggest opposition to enjoyment- the total disregard for the skill level of the players- remains.

So, thanks for the technical details... but the video's content was very disappointing, and basically sums up what we've all already figured out:
MM IS POWERED BY W.A.G.s.

Don't forget, WG had this to say regarding Clam Wars Campaign 1:

Quote

The first Clan Wars Campaign, which ran from June 10 to July 22, was met with a lot of praise from players.

Many lulz were had from that statement.

In addition, an explanation of map selection in the video would have been nice. Most of my battles are across a few maps. Rented an apartment at Himmy since I am there all the time then bought a condo when the market dipped.
