Played for about 5 hours tonight.

My progress thus far:

American line: 8,880 / 100,000

USSR line: 18,392 / 100,000

French line: 10,546 / 100.000

German line: 3,153 / 100,000

British line: 5,068 / 100,000

Chinese line: 3,408 / 100,000

Japanese line: 0 / 100.000

Total: 49,447 / 700,000

I went ahead and unlocked the Nashorn, AT 8, and Type 58 so they all started stock - it was a pretty rough night.  My highest win rate tank is now my AT 8 at 82%, but that had little to nothing to do with me.  At least 3 battles I finished in the bottom 5 and didn't get credit for my xp because I was just too slow to make it in to battle and contribute at all.  I won't get to play much tomorrow, but Thursday is my last day of work until the new year, so I'm looking forward to lots of tanking coming soon.

Fluff, you might consider the Type 58.  The 59-16 is a decent scout tank, but unless you are really good at scout gameplay it isn't a very good XP generator.

I was thinking on this myself Peter... with slow moving units you have limited options. However, I've only been doing this promo while going solo in pubbies, and so far there are always at least 5 not-so-skilled players (to put it in a nice way), who get themselves killed for close to no damage/exp, so it shouldn't be to difficult.... Now, that's my theory. When I buy my T6 British AT when the sale starts, hope I don't go back on what I just said :)

I had another AWFUL night in terms of win rate 42%, but I had a 1769 Win8.  It seems match maker is content with either making me bottom Tier or making me top tier but filling my team with reds and the other team with players who actually know what they are doing.

I really need to start platooning up, but only a couple guys in my clan are working on this and we haven't been online at the same time.  If anyone needs a wingman, send me a message in game.  I should be on about 3:45 pm cst today.

I haven't started this yet because I've been traveling, but I'm not sure why people are saying it's impossible. I am currently averaging 900 experience per game - but remember that this includes both wins and losses. On my wins I'm probably closer to 1200 or so (guess). So I'm looking at the number of x2 victories I need, not the overall number of battles.

For each nation I would need a total of about 42 x2 victories to reach 100k exp. At my current win rate of ~62% that equates to about 67 battles total per nation. Considering there will be days I can't play, I think it will equate to about 2.5 battles per day on average per nation. I currently own three brit tier 6s (grinding the church, keeper in the crom and FV) - so the brits are easy. I currently own only the Hellcat, but have been wanting to re-buy the E8 and M6.- so US is pretty easy too. I currently own the ARL-44 and will likely re-buy the 12t so I can keep up with the 2.5 battles per day. Same with Russians (currently own 1S and SU-100) and Germans. The Chinese are a little problematic because there are only 2 tanks and I refuse to play the 59-16. So I'll have to grind the Type 58 on the x2 weekend. Japanese are problematic due to their late entry.

So taking the Japanese out of the equation for now, I would need to run call it 14 battles per day that i play plus a bunch of Type 58 time on the x2 weekend. Considering that most of these tanks I either already own or will enjoy playing, I don't consider this much of a "grind" - 14 battles per day isn't that much.

Given that the Japanese line may be difficult to get through, but that's the only real challenge I see here.

I agree.  I'm having a hard time with the AMX 12t and wouldn't recommend attempting this mission in a scout or arty unless it is your only option.

Yeah, usually even when I have a bad round there almost always seems to be a handful of people with no damage putting me in the top 10.  On the plus side, it is pretty rare that I have a round where I play for a long time and then finish in the bottom 5 - at least when I have the bad rounds I can just go get in another tank without wasting too much time.

I find that I am too hard on myself.  It felt like I was playing pretty poorly last night, but my win rate stayed constant (good considering I was in mostly stock tanks all night) and my average xp per battle actually increased on all my tanks.

I've thought about platooning, but feel like the boost to xp form platooning might be negated by having to wait around for platoon mates to finish battles where I would normally just head back to the garage and start another battle.  I'd give it a shot if anyone wants to try though - add me and send me an invite.  I have some stuff going on tonight, but should be on late 10-10:30 EST maybe.

I agree with you Rocketmandb, plus you need to figure in the x3 and x5 weekends which actually reduce the number of battles.  If people try to grind this out in a week, it is basically double or triple the number of battles, but if you look at the long term and pace it out it is not that much of a chore.  The only real sacrifice is that you are limiting yourself to T6 play for about 20 days or so.

Rocketman, you make an excellent point on the x2s.  Most people are assuming that they have to use the same tank, but if you have multiple tier 6s in your garage you can really capitalize on the x2s.

I'm actually running both the 59-16 and the Type 58 for their daily doubles, then run a couple more in the Type 58 to keep up my avg xp for the day.

So far on track, 49k total xp after 2 days.

I am working on unlocking 4 tier 7 tanks, so my efforts grinding the 6's on those are not a waste.  And I always enjoy running my Hellcat and KV-1s.

I decided to do this challenge a bit differently than some.  Number of days in contest for me is 31.  So I will need 3225 exp per day per nation with 25 exp left over at the end which I will either get during the course of the contest or at the end.  I just hit that exp mark per day per nation.  I don't want to focus on one nation and knock it out early as I still have doubles that can do that during the course of the campaign.

So far Russia 12k, USA 10k, France 7k, UK 7k, China 6600, Germany 9k.  My plan is just doing doubles and grinding as much as I have to grind to hit that benchmark and when the Japan line comes out ill just grind that out since I will be way ahead on all the lines by then thanks to this weekend.  All in all it is not that much of a grind and a lot easier than I think some people think it is.

My tanks are KV2, MT25, Nashorn, Hellcat, Type 58, Fv304 (might buy the Cromwell when it goes on sale but I am doing well with the fv), and Arl 44.  China is the hardest right now because the type is just not that great of tank and the 59-16 is total dog poo which is why I am just trying to get the double on it).  I think a lot of people severely overestimated the time requirement.  I am not playing any more than I normally play games.

Back to the AT-2 Peter, either I totally clean up the house, or it ends in a quick defeat. So it seems to me these units are the perfect type for this kind of promo, at least from my sample games so far in the AT.

I've had some bad luck starting on maps with NO cover to speak of, and SIX (yes 6) arties total in that game! Of course I'm spotted by hellcats within first 60 seconds and you're dead before you can get 20 meters LOL.

On the other hand, in the city maps you can totally clean up house. For example, Himmelsdorf my last game, I was totally left alone on heavy alley (not one person came to my aid despite begging). I had my AT-2 to deal with KVs etc, who just kept shooting the same spots over and over and over without doing any damage. End result, survived with steel wall, and over 6.3K potential damage received. LOL!!!! These games are so damn soft over the holidays....

Cant wait till the sale for the AT-6 !!!

Tomorrow, I think I will burn off my free exp on getting the Nashorn....  by the time the Japs are out, I should have another 40K+ of free exp re-grinded out by then. So I'll probably buy their tier 6 right out of the box.... or I may decide to just grind the Japs up from T1 just to test all the new little toys. We'll see what happens...

Grinding the AT2 to get to the tier 6, did in a jumbo yesterday from full health while he plink-plink-plinked me frontally. Not really enjoying a tank that slow, but it has its moments. The rest of the team had already melted, so I didn't last much longer, but I got some nice exp out of it towards the AT8.

Yeah, after two days I realized that my original plan was a dumb.  I unlocked all my tier 6s and am getting my daily doubles in them every day now.

I am currently doing USSR and USA since those are the tier 6s I have ready to go.  Will rebuy the nashorn tomorrow when it goes on sale.  While I'd love to wait for the french/UK/China tank sales, I'll have to pick them up early since I want to grind them during the x2 weekend.  Since those are the 3 least enjoyable nations at tier 6 (for me anyway) I'd like to get as much done as possible while getting x2

Current progress

USSR: 23 047

USA: 45 245

I played fewer battles last night and fell behind a bit, up to about 43k total points, so about 3k off the minimum daily mark. That is fine, as I should be able to make up a lot o ground this weekend.

I initially thought that I would grind all lines relatively evenly, so that I can maximize the 2x daily bonus. However, I thought about it harder and decided to change my strategy to the following:

- Get all daily doubles on all of the 9 tier 6 tanks I currently have in garage, to make sure I am not missing out on any free points.

- Once daily doubles are done, focus on one nation and rotate 2 tanks to get as much progress on that nation as possible.

There are a couple of reasons for this:

1) I play with a standard account and the premium boost for completing a nation will make the missions easier

2) Once a nation is completed, it will free up slots for other nations' vehicles, which will then speed up progress for those nations.

To sum it up, if you already have a premium account AND can dedicate 15-18 or so slots in your garage to fit at least 2/3 tanks per nation, doing all the existing 6 nations evenly will be the most efficient use of your time. If, however, you do not have a premium account or enough slots in the garage, completing a few nations will provide a boost.

Thanks for the support and updates from those of you participating!  Here is my update for my first night.....

My progress thus far:

American line: 3,313 / 100,000 (2 battles in Hellcat)

USSR line: 15,155 / 100,000 (18 battles in SU-100)

French line: 4,107 / 100.000 (20 battles in AMX 12t)

German line: 0 / 100,000

British line: 0 / 100,000

Chinese line: 0 / 100,000

Japanese line: 0 / 100.000

Total: 22,575 / 700,000

I played for about 4 hours, got 40 battles in, and a total of 22,575 xp.  If every night is like tonight I will complete this challenge in 30 more days.....perfect.

This was my first time every playing the AMX 12t, and I'm pretty terrible in it.  Was averaging 416 xp/round.  I did unlock the engine and suspension though which seems to help, and went ahead and dropped 300 gold on the crew to get them to 100% which helped as well.  I need to watch some videos though and figure out how to play this thing properly.  My win rate was I lost 12 of my first 14 battles in it.  But then I bought the better suspension and got a 1st class mastery badge my 15th round, so things are looking up.  W/R after 20 battles is 38% - still terrible, but too small a sample size really.  I played well in my Hellcat and SU-100 as always - increasing my average xp/round slightly in each.

Quick and dirty suggestion on the 12t; play it like you played the M8A1.  It's more like a light TD than a scout tank; it works for me anyway.  Good luck with the pursuit.  It's just too bad that WG didn't release the Japanese line in 8.8/8.9 as was supposed to happen.

Here's some useful videos of AMX 12t pros:

Aye, I'm going to end up unlocking the Type 58 too, I just need more free xp first from grinding the other lines.  I picked the 59-16 first since I had some people that were platooning scouts.  I could I guess play the Type some more, but Im pretty tired of it after I already played through the russian version.
