You know Peter, now that the promo is over... you may wish to start a new thread. How about based on the strength's weaknesses the promo winners are finding on their new toy?

I discovered the hard way there is very little the IS-6 can do vs a competent E-75 player....

Congrats man, just in time!!!

Thank you sir.

So final break down was 700,000 XP in tier 6 took 717 battles. We had some very nice promotions during the month that helped and I owned a lot of the tier 6 tanks so I had more doubles than most. Battle count does not count the battles played in premium  tanks and Japanese tanks to grind up to the tier 6.

It was a great contest. Rediscovered some great tanks I have not played in a long time. Then suffered a little tier 6 burn out.

All in all loved it.

Thanks WG!

Thanks to Peter for running the thread.

Congratulations to everyone who completed this monumental task. Alas, I could not, I just had to take too long to grind up to the tier in French, British, Chinese and Japanese. DID get the 100k in German, Russian and US lines, so some premium time top up.

Main thing is, I learned a lot, not just about playing, but about how to prepare should another event like this surface. I also have a T-43 waiting in the wings for sufficient credits, I researched the Wolverine off the Easy 8, am close to T-20 from Jumbo, and T29 from M6, and the IS is in reach. Germans were already elited, but I have much better crews for them now.

Notes on event preparation:

Make sure you have credits available so you can buy the tanks you need "on the spot".

Cherish that free exp you have built up.

Keep your nations going, don't stall out if you can avoid it. Play at least one tank regularly, so you can be closer to an appropriate tank if the next event is for a higher tier.

I'm still of two minds on the value of unlocking/mounting modules on below-tier tanks, if you need to grind through them to the next tier. Is it foolish to save that exp for the next tank, or will that better gun/engine/tracks make the exp gain that much faster? I ground through the Type T-34 and the Japanese tanks using them completely stock, so as not to waste earned exp and credits. Still not sure if that was wise.

The one thing that I really learned was to be more mobile.  In the past I played the Hellcat/Jackson as a camper rather than a sniper.  This challenge specifically got me in the mode of always pushing up (or falling back) as the battle dictated.  Trying to always do damage so that I ended up in the top 10.  Trying to keep pushing so that either the battle would end faster, or I would die faster - either way it put me back in the garage to continue grinding.

A final grats to everyone to finished the event.  It was grindy but well worth it in the end for me, and hopefully you all will be happy with your success after a couple weeks recovery.  :)

Congrats to all who ignored the nay-sayers, stuck with it and succeeded.

I didn't make it.  Would have been impossible given I don't play Nazi tanks.  However, I did the 100k in USA and Russian tanks, mostly during normal play.

BTW, I saw this in the customer support portal yesterday. I'm not sure how many people got their IS-6 gold while it was still on sale, but I thought it was a nice touch. I haven't seen it publicized anywhere else.

Combat Mission to the IS-6, Gold Crediting

Tankers!

It has come to our attention that the IS-6 mission was not crediting players who do have the tank with the full price in gold when it was on discount.

We have decided that this is not cool and will credit players with the difference between the two.

Any player that has experienced this issue can submit a ticket with Support. We will verify that the incorrect amount was credited and compensate the player for the difference in gold.

Wwe appreciate the feedback from a WGNA POC (and player, of course) like Maj R.  This thread documents the communication, support, and accomplishments of many.

Can you tell us how many players completed the mission on NA/EU/RU respectively?

Any plans for another mission like this but a different reward?

I have been enjoying my IS-6 very much.

Congrats to everyone who completed the mission. I was 1.6k exp in the British line and one random battle away from the is6 when the sever reset bummer.

I like mine - it's like an is7 without the weakspot.

PS - just like I thought - they did a quiet little nerf to it during the last update.  Now with the 350% crew from my is7 it runs as crappy as with a 50% crew.  I can still kick butt with it though - just not as many!

Well, been very sick over the last few days after getting hit by the influenza epidemic. Feels like I got my head smashed by a Mac-Truck.

In any case, I couldn't sleep during the night due to all the hacking and caughing, so I finished this promo up.

Hit skins. LOL.
