I don't use mods. Installing them makes me nervous. But I am curious to see how far mods go into World of Tanks.

Do they make that much difference

I have to say that the best mods are the improved sound mods. Every gunshot and engine rev is pure ear sex and you feel like you're actually driving around tanks.

Anything that shows stats is purely for breast-puffing and may have the side effect of "stop having fun you're ruining my stats."

I use a crosshair mod and a sound mod, that's it.   I had xvm but that was just to see my own stats, I have zero interest in anyone else's past offering props for improvement [I treat all reds the same, as if they are equally lethal].   As for the rest, last known position and all the bells and whistles - it's helpful but not 'needed'.

Sure I could do without them, easily.   I'm slowly improving as is; going without a crosshair and sound mod wouldn't change that.

I find them very helpful (use Anfield's+4 level zoom) but certainly not necessary.

Oh my god I need to use that next time someone feels that their stats are more important than others fun.

I haven't played more than about 10 games of WoT without mods since patch ~0.7.3

They're not game changing but they just clean things up, make things more obvious and allow you to customise.

IMO, I could live without them but I would never do so by choice.

Is WoT the first PC game the majority of the "what are mods or mods are cheats" crowd have touched?

It seems like the only people that post these kinda things are quite new to pc gaming and should be forgiven for their lack of knowledge.

For me it is more like "what are mods are mods malware?"

The last known position indicators do, yes.

I seriously can't play without jimbo's anymore. It's that good. Add in the Mini-map mod that shows what tank is where. I could do without most of XVM but 4 mods I MUST HAVE.  Mini-map mod that shows my view range, gun direction and types of tanks, MUST HAVE. Jimbo's MUST HAVE, and the duke nukem voice pack. And my garage mod for my crew. MUST HAVE all 4.

I actually used to have my own mod pack, but with the latest patch I just uninstalled them all except for the serverside crosshair, damage indicator, and mini map mod. I also use WoT Tweaker and Maxfarplane because I run on a laptop and I need all the FPS I can get. I also installed a compressed textures 25% last night and it seems to really smooth the game out for me.

i use several mods, all are helpful to my gameplay, some like the XVM map mods, are very powerful and should be in the base game. some that are out there are downright insane, like the ones that calculate the armor under your crosshair to let you know what your real chance to pen is.

I do love the mods I run (Aslain's modpack, I run the damage indicator panel, XVM, damage received announcer, Jimbo's gunsight mod, and a few others).

They help me process the information I receive much more efficiently (I want to know what tank was spotted where).

Sure, I could play without them (Like a did for a long time), but I think I am more effective when I use them, and ergo, have more fun.

Only ones I use are No Scope Shadow and the Female icons. So it wouldn't matter that much to me.
