I made it 3 games after the patch without my gun mods. Need em'. I also feel claustrophobic if I can't zoom out really far. The mini map looks all boring without those mods, omg need them all!

If there had never been any mods I would have been happy playing the game without them, but now that's I've played the last 15k+ games with mods I find WOT unplayable without them.

It's funny how you can get used to a luxury so much that going without becomes simply unacceptable, but at this point I'd just play a different game if I had to give up every mod I play with.

This game is crap in vanilla in form.

I couldn't do without my custom skins. I'd be moderately irked by the vanilla and barely visible reticule. I'd be irritated that my icon mod that I've used for over 2 years is gone and having easy access to unfamiliar tank information is gone. I'd be irritated with losing all of my sound mods that make the game fun again. I'd be endlessly irritated by the fact that I can't tell whether or not someone spouting off about something is competent or a sentient tapeworm. etc. etc.

Part of it is I'm too used to an improved and customized game, part of it is that the simple and easy utility and polish is hard to do without once you've experienced it.

As for being worried about installing mods, they generally come with instructions no more complex than "copy and paste this in resmods". It's about as complex as saving a high school powerpoint presentation.

Running without the mods is easy as the default interface is more than good enough to play the game.

Its running without the mods when everyone else has them that puts you at a disadvantage.

Could I play without mods? Sure, yes I could

WOULD I play without them? Oh hell no.

Considering how crap the stock sights are, I wouldn't even try to go back to not using them. Plus, I like the additional information XVM gives you during a game, and eagerly await it being implemented into WOWP.

The downside to banning mods would be you'd have to ban ALL mods, including sound packs, Garage mods, and others that have little impact on the game, because we all know that if WG started to ban mods, they wouldn't stop at just sights and scope shadow.

Mods are essential because WG has slowly adopt some of them. Relay only on wg and you will never get loading timer. I could not play without clock in garage. Number of people in clan online. Bright platforms. Etc.

I use no mods every open test server. I don't particularly *like* not having my visual candy (I use melty's reticle mods... prefer the blue).

Other than that, most of my mods are eye candy mods like Winter Mod (which to be honest, WG needs to get their crap straight and just make ALL of the maps change with the seasons like Winter mod clearly shows us is capable).

Could you imagine the map rotation you play now actually changing time of day and weather conditions each season with uniquely different feels and terrain resistances?

I use two, Melty's because the in game reticle is not very good (for a shooting game...... you think they'd make that better), and Gnomefathers historical gun sounds..... because have you heard the difference??

I like the Mini-map mod. Very useful tool. I don't use anything else in game play. I'll wait till I develop better skills as a player.

I'm so used to the crosshair mod I miss a lot when I try to play vanilla.  I'd miss the gunsounds one badly too.  Overall though I think many mods go too far past simply 'informative' (ie basic hitlog) and into 'advantage' (telling who shot you with what, even if you can't see them) at this point and there needs to be some control put down by WG.

I can't play without mods. I played around on the test server a few weeks ago with just the basic interface...ugh. You're really handicapping yourself without them. The minimap info alone is indispensable.

i have no problem with mods except xvm. it makes people bitch and whine about "noob teams" and go afk.

XVM doesn't make people do anything. I see more blood red players crying about noob teams that DON'T run XVM than anyone else.

Reticle mods are a must or at least I've become addicted to them. There are other mods I really like that come and go each patch for me since there are sometimes issues getting them up to speed each time. I used to run the AOIMOD lite XVM pack. But there seemed to be increasing issues with each patch so I avoided reloading them and never got them updated. I miss some of the things in there but seem to do alright without them.

There is also a set of mods that reduce in-game graphics like smoke and fire that help with my FPS since I'm not running a top flight system.

I have never run any XVM that shows player stats, etc. Just don't want it.

I'd be interested in a new sound pack if anyone knows of the better ones. The only one I looked into said it had an occasional bug that sounded nasty so I skipped it. The stock sounds are always a mix of cool and suck. Every time they update them they make some better and some much worse. Weird. The current sound for pen from AP on your own tank are incredibly annoying and sound nothing like large metal damage to me. Sounds more like a squeaky bed spring.

I can't live without a couple of certain mods in playing the game, things like proper informative tank icons and sight zooms in and out.

I could live without anything else.....  But these things should be in the game already frankly.

If I lost mods....  specifically these, I would be bored with the game and quit, and wargaming would lose money.

Mods make the game more fun, interesting, and even challenging, thus wargaming makes money from you being so interested.

I don't use mods. Installing them makes me nervous. But I am curious to see how far mods go into World of Tanks.

I have never used MODs and don't plan too.  I have thought about maybe getting a realistic sound MOD.

I have used different mods at different times.

In particular XVM, which I believe was having a negative affect on my game play.  Recently, some of my previously installed mods caused a conflict, so I had to uninstall & delete all my old WOT directories & re-install the game.  Since the re-install. I have had no mods & I have had a much more positive outlook on playing WOT & appear to be playing better although now my computer has died - and is undergoing repairs.

Some mods are good & do help, but they are not for everybody.

Good luck & happy hunting all.
