Find out next week if the test server comes out then ...

We'll see how it goes. So far it looks like most would have to be re-written. Guys over at RU's forums are already whining about it. It sure would be lots of work to get my modpack back to it's shape if all mods will be re-worked. Good thing we have test-server....

every patch people say all mods wont work for, then it comes out and 90% of my mods all I have to do is change file structure. Ill reserve judgement till I see their changes. the changes we already saw in with AS3 was a prequel to this change so honestly most mods wont even be affected.

that's going to suck. also, will you be forced to have single-nation teams or can you switch back to the way it was before?

They way I understood it is that the single nation battles will be an option the way that Team Battles and Tank Companies are right now.

having it as an option would be great, that way people can try it when they want to and be left alone when they don't XD

From what I understand, single nation battles will be part of Random Battles - like Encounter, Standard, Assault. You randomly get assigned into that game mode. There is supposed to be an option to disable it. It won't be available to Japanese or Chinese tanks, since they don't have arty or TDs.

I think many players will disable it.

there will still be dds files mainly because of the 3 dimensional laying in the game, png format cant obtain that.

This update is NOT like other updates.....

Every mod that uses a "Python" file is now broke it seems.  I've confirmed this using the test server.  Which means zooming sights etc. are broke.  Everything.

I made a post about a post I found on this on the Russian server that might be the fix.  I don't do python, but those who do should understand.

This is not why *.dds is used over PNG.

PNG is a loss-less format, and usually isn't favored for games ( PNG is favored for League of Legends though, for example ) because it doesn't implement any sort of mip-mapping or packing.

However *.dds is a file format with multiple sub-formats in how it's packed etc, so it's easier to manipulate how textures are loaded and used.. It also implements mip-mapping, so optimization is automatic, as well as native support with DirectX.

You can read more about the DDS format here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S3_Texture_Compression

DirectX 9.0c; Standard graphics is a straight-forward rendering engine, and Improved Graphics is a deferred rendering engine.

As per usual Junior, TY for the insight. Still hoping to see your player panel be able to be used in normal game. That thing is AWESOME. Anyhow, atleast I was half right, dds shouldn't be going away in WOT, as it does use directX.
