This is beyond moronic and only the elite clans will be able to afford this and as for the smaller clans who have no chance in hell to win it will only cost them a lot of in game coin. Get your head out of your *** and stop spoon feeding the larger elite clans. GJ WG [edited]

Because the elite clan  members have a credit bonus? with all the elite clan who will not participate anyone can win this, or at least get near to top and still earn a lot more gold than you are normally able to get.

Just a reminder for everyone, registrations for this tournament must be submitted by tomorrow morning at 9AM PST.

Captains, be sure to submit the team for the tournament! (Instructions)

(Be sure all players on your roster are in the clan represented. If they are not, they will be removed. Final acceptance is based on rosters after interlopers are removed.)

Hello everyone,

Now that registration is complete, here's the look ahead at the tournament:

There are 60 teams which met the entry requirements. Since a maximum of 40 teams move on to round 2, that means that 20 teams will be eliminated tonight (and the other 40 will earn 1,000). Tonight's matches will be used in seeding the groups for tomorrow night, when only the top 2 in each division will make it through to the playoffs, so play your best to get the easiest road to success tomorrow night.

Tonight's matches begin at 5:00 PM PST (8:00 PM EST)

Having 14 clanmates spending 80,000 credits each = 1,120,000 credits PER MATCH.

Seriously this would be immensely fun if it wasn't a gigantic credit sink.  I'm not participating in this series but would love to participate in the next one if something is done about the cost.

OTTER agrees with the above and won't even be entering a team. Sorry Q/Hyp - it would be a very hard sell to my guys.

First off, Otter did enter a team. CRY WOLF.

Secondly, the basic points are correct. I understand that part of it is a matter of new code, which would take time; but if every participant in a battle even got 10k silver, or 15k, per match (or maybe 15k per win, 10k per loss), that would go a long way towards mitigating the cost of the tournament against the payout. On one hand, the standard wargaming response would be "but that would encourage people to farm these for the silver," but on the other hand, you have to realize that it would also promote more teams, which is the primary goal of these exhibitions, as you said earlier. Even if people were in this to farm the silver, they'd still need to show up and win to make any significant silver silver, so you'd end up with more teams, and more people showing up to every battle. As it is, there is no incentive to keep showing up once you've lost a certain number of matches; so giving people an incentive would also make it more fun for the majority of the teams, who have to sit around for a bunch of noshows.

Hello all,

I hope you're all enjoying the tournament so far.

After the first round of fighting, we have an interesting result - an unbreakable tie. As a refresher, here are the tiebreaker rules for Round 1:

  1. Head to Head
  2. Head to Head Against Group Leader
  3. Opponent Strength - final rank of opponents that have defeated your team
  4. Complete draw - tied teams move on to Round 2

There were 5 teams tied with 9 points at 38th position (38 thru 42); (SPWAW, Armored Reapers, UAW OPFOR, BLAM, and 182nd WRECKING BALLS). The only head-to-head was SPWAW vs Armored Reapers, which SPWAW won, so they move on, leaving 4 teams tied at 9 for 39-42nd. No team defeated the group leader, so we move to opponent strength. Armored Reapers' were the only outlier here, so they were #39, leaving 3 teams for 40th place, so all 3 move on into the next round. Each of these 42 teams has earned the 1,000.

However, we no longer have 40 clans, so we can't have 4 groups, but rather 5 groups (2 have 9, 3 have 8 clans in them). Well, we're prepared for this too. Each group will still see the top two clans move on to the playoff round, making it 10 teams. Similar to college basketball, we'll have a play-in round with the lower-ranked clans after Round 2 playing for a spot in the main rounds of the playoffs. Ties in this play-in round will be broken according to the playoffs tie-breaker rules.

So, here are your groups for tomorrow, Round 2 (they will appear and be scheduled for you tomorrow morning/mid-day).

When will the battle schedule be up Hyp?  Thanks

Edit:  We were dissappointed with the amount of technical victories or shot teams last night.

.

Funny. I never realized I was running an "elite clan" . . .

.

No, I don't expect to win the big prize, but by finishing Round 1 in 14th place (or thereabouts), we did pick up 1,000 gold for the clan treasury. We even gave REL_2 a run for their money, needing a little more time on the clock to turn the Draw into a Win. And we're not the only "small" clan to move on and pick up a little gold. Sure, it's not much, but we're still in it. That means we still do have a shot at the big prize. We just have to make sure we play better than the "elite" clans in our group, and that does happen from time to time.

.

As for the cost of playing in tournaments . . . personally, I don't really think about it. My clan plays because it's fun, and because it teaches us to compete at a higher level. I can understand why the top clans might not want to run in something like this, but enough of them will so that clans like ours get to run against them without having to face nothing but the best. It allows us to put what we learn into practice right away. I like that.

.

And, those clans that think it's too expensive don't have to run in them. Opt out. Nothing out there says you need to run in every tourney they create. And nothing says WG has to make every tourney enticing to everyone.

^this, in our group there where at least 2 straight no shows(easy to spot because they tie 0:0 against the other no-shows) and a third confirmed(either dropped after first loss or something like that):

Villain: as crusader said before, they wheren't joining so why bother signing up in first place?

Scrubs United

Volga

that's 30% IN ONE GROUP.... pretty sad.... doing a quick view of the point results for other groups i count maybe 8 more (when you have teams tied at the bottom with 2 points each that's a telltale sign of ~4 no-shows) ofc it can be that they showed and lost or other explanation

there was even a technical draw last night on 2 teams that were no shows.  If that doesn't make you hang your head in shame, I don't know what will.

It was probably one of our soldiers.  Wasn't an officer.  And it obviously didn't have enough people on the team to actually play, considering the war is more important than a map exhibition that will put all my players 12 mil creds in the hole.

If you had paid any attention, you would have noticed that my "team" didn't even show for the first round.

Your right mate my bad 17 people "didnt" sign up so that WG would take the team for the brackets so i can see how "not" enough players where interested. And your 1 player team did show up which was even worse than a Tech in my eyes but ok whatever anyway thanks for the free win.
