The Bandkanon 1A, or VK-155. Swedish made, but produced by Bofors, making it a potential candidate for a T10 German arty.

History

In the mid-1950's, the Swedish army began looking for a 155mm tank to replace their Centurions. This tank, the KRV, was eventually deemed unwieldy and thus AB Landsverk, the chassis constructor, had to repurpose it. This eventually led to the creation of the BKAN 1A in 1967. It was immensely costly and thus only 26 were created.

General Stats

5 Crew: Commander, Gunner, Radio Op, Loader, Driver

20mm armor max.

Length (overall) 11m

Length (hull) 6.55m

Width 3.37m

Height (w/ AA MG) 3.85m, without MG 3.55m

Combat Weight 53t

Mobility

It had a Rolls-Royce K.60 diesel engine that developed 240hp at 3750 RPM, and was coupled with a Boeing Model 502/10MA gas turbine that developed 300hp at 38 000 RPM. It had a ground pressure of 0.85kg/cm². It got 10.38 hp/ton, and a road speed of 28km/hr. It could climb a vertical obstacle of 0.95m, and ford a 2m trench. Max hill gradient was 60 degrees. Average for a T10.

Gun

Now, the real fun with this vehicle is the gun. This thing is a Batchat on steroids.

Kanone m/60.

155mm L/50, wt 4 800kg.

-5 to +38º elevation, 5º/s.

Traverse of 15º left and 15º right.

Max muzzle velocity of 865 m/s.

HE shot weight of 48kg

15 rounds per clip, assuming one preloaded. It could fire them all in less than a minute, at around 50 seconds. Reload time was 2 minutes.

Seems like a better candidate for the Pan-Euro trees tier 10 arty (Bofors is actually a Swedish company). Either way, I want that 14+1 shell autoloader.

Bofors was also a Swedish company, and the vehicle had pretty much nothing to do with Germany.

Good god... the batchat arty gets 4 rounds and has a 1.5 second reload (though it does have a turret)

this one.

This will give many heavy tank drivers grief.

Well It's a good thing Russian bias is a myth.

And that there's literally zero reason at all to add this to the German tree....or any tree ingame currently.

Many autoloading vehicles have their characteristics reduced to not be hilariously OP. If this is included, it will no doubt suffer the same fate.

And it won't be German.

And people will still cry about Russian bias.

i dont think they'd be hilariously OP if you couldnt reload the autoloaders during battle, lol, even with realistic characteristics. And from what I've read, the drum autoloaders didn't even speed up ROF, they just let you stuff a bigger gun into a smaller tank. Though thats obviously not the case with arty.

Oh and also this guy is obsessed with it as his last post made (which was a day after this one) was also a post about this that was only remotely related.

The Bandkanon killed the 203mm shell guys, you heard it here first!

You forget the Bandkanon 1 - it had a 15-round mad minute.

Also, while we're at it, I demand the XM1203 be added to the American tree with the ability to hit 8 different targets at once (or the same target for maximum cluster zero reaction time fun) as a feature.

It took a well trained crew somewhere under a minute to unload all 12 rounds of an AMX 13's 75mm gun. A conventional gun would probably take about the same time, so yeah.

now, i don't know any figures off the top of my head, but i have read a report that in a test, a centurion crew hit 15(iirc) targets at ranges 800-1000m within 46 seconds or something

that would mean the autoloaders are in fact slower than some bigger tanks with similar armament. still cool that u can empty 12 rounds in under a minute, lol, imagine if ur whole clip in wot was hit or miss 12 rounds and then ur done in 1 minute

It was from a story about an Israeli crew against an Egyptian T-55 or T-54. Apparently, they emptied both drums, and got zero penetrations against the front of the tank, but knocked it out anyways.
