What's the point of doing this? I have my T1 Cunningham on Elite and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the trouble of doing it. Should I bother?

Are you planning to convert to free XP with gold? If yes, then don't do it. If no, then might as well. What is your purpose of eliting that tank?

No and I'm specializing in American tanks so I researched the parts and got elite.

Then keep it as is, unless you want to still play the tank and level up your crew to 100% and then get secondary skills unlocked. Afterwards you can retrain that crew to put it on another tank, but they will still keep their secondary skills.

1. Karahaut, I don't know who your avatar is but he resembles a guy with crazy hair I see on the History Channels Ancient Alien series.

2. No need to specialize in the Cunningham.  elite means you can turn experience and level their compentacy faster though it really lags once you hit 75 or 80%.  Once you hit 100%, you can train camoflauge/repair/fire fighting to help deal with module damage, being detected, or put out fires faster.  Once you elite the cunningham, you can just move on to another tank, nothing is benifictial (as in, won't help if you use a Sherman or Pershing) from playing that tank unless you really enjoy playing it.

I plan to go directly from Light to Medium tanks though.

I found it to be pretty useless durring beta. It doesn't seem to do any good. Anyway, why would you want to train a t1 crew? I also found out durring beta that only higher tier tanks are worth training because those are the tanks you will actually keep. Maybe that was me. I also heard there is a maximum number of times you can retrain a crew (3 times I think it was) and haven't bothered to check it out, so I only kept and tried to improve the crews from tanks I would keep or that were close enough to their top tier so I would have an interest in keeping them.

If I recall correctly, accelerating their training only gives them and extra 10% of so of the experience you gain with that tank.

I've never heard of the "Only 3 retrains" policy.  Pretty sure I took a crew from PZIV to 3601 to Tiger to Tiger II to 4502 and finally to JT in beta.

Training has many good benefits, but you really shouldn't bother unless you intend to keep the tank for a while.  I personally hold on to a few choice low tier tanks because I enjoy them so much.

You CAN train a crew in a different class of tank, but they'll lose 20% of their primary skill.  You only lose 10% when transferring a crew from one tank of the same class to another.

There is no limit. You can re-train them as many times as you like.
