17 year old Alexander S. jumped out of a 4th floor window, ending in hospital with serious injuries, after losing in a computer game World of Tanks.

the teenager got angry, started destroying the PC screen, then he ran into the kitchen and then he jumped out of the window.

Seriously... what the hell?

Hope he gets better, but dang, get a grip on yourself. It's just a game. >.>

Well, I would honestly say that was pathetic. I mean, there are so many other things you could kill yourself over, but, a video game? Come on, lad! Whoever he is, he needs some help.

In other questioning, any proof of him on drugs or anything like that?

In situations like this the person most likely already had a pre existing condition. It could have been football, soccer, monopoly, etc. At any rate, hopefully the guy gets the help he needs, depression is a very serious condition.

Wow that is crazy, but as stated in comments I think this was just a trigger to a bigger problem waiting to happen anyway.

Back in my school days, oh so long ago, we weren't allowed to play Dungeons and Dragons in school because a kid somewhere in the US had commited suicide. It really irks me when journalists say it's because of a game.

17 years old and hitting the end of puberty. Plus it's Russia. Russians tend to take world of tanks really really seriously. To the point Russian wives have complained how their husbands are spending too much time on tanks instead of with them :teethhappy:

Considering some of the rhetoric, raging, ranting I see go on in the chat sessions sometimes this does not surprise me in the least.

And in this day and age, how much do you want to bet that the family tries to sue Wargaming for "having a hand in the attempted suicide"?

Another crazy rage quit article. There was another one on FTR a while back. I know we all joke around about "playing4fun" and stuff, but seriously, it's just a game in the very end. sheesh!!!

Since it has come up and the link really can't be shared too often:

Depression and suicide are real and very very sad. Having had a case in my familiy myself I can't laugh about this. My thoughts and sympathy go out to that poor fellow and his relatives.

So true.  Nothing funny about anybody being so low a bad game of tanks gives you the excuse or motivation.

Clearly this person had other issues at hand in order for him to take such drastic actions over a game that has no real meaning in real life beside entertainment.

Its easy to make light and fun of this but facts are a lot of people walk round in this world with mental issues and cant get the help they need. I hope he gets the help he needs and his family is behind him for his recovery.

:honoring:
