I've been playing the game feverishly lately, and have gotten up to a KV for Russians, but dabbled in the USA, and German tanks a little.  I started to really like the sniper capability of the T-28 with it's large gun, and was curious if any other group of tanks has a good cannon for sniping.

Most of the website info is about Armour penetration, and Damage, but I don't see much about accuracy.

Also on that subject, how do you know what is better for accuracy?  Higher number or lower?  Are some tanks better at quick fireing with faster aiming time?  I heard some of the american tanks are more accurate while moving as well.

Just kind of looking at all my options for tanks right now and don't know where to start.

A .2 gun is far more accurate than a .5 gun.  The closer you get to 0, the better the accuracy is.

Keeping that in mind, the most accurate guns to my knowledge are found in the German TD line.

The US e8, T20, and T23 are all great snipers. At least they were for me in beta. With the T23 I averaged a sniper badge every 5-6 battles.

I also found the Stug, JagdPanther, and Ferd to be great sniper platforms. I'm sure there are others.

Keep in mind that aiming time compliments accuracy, the higher it is the faster you get to your most accurate shot which helps a ton in mid range.

Germans are usually a good branch for accuracy. Just do a bit of research first.

The accuracy number denotes the gun's natural spread. .30 means that at 100 meters, your shot when fully zoomed in should hit within a 30cm area of your aimpoint. So, a lower number is better.

You're from Darkfall!

Also, I appreciate all the information you guys brought forward.  I had a suspicion that lower was better.  I may poke around the german tanks a little more and perhaps dabble in TDs a little.

Also, Metalkon has his words backwards.

What he means is that the shorter the aiming time, the faster the circle will shrink into it's smallest size, and giving you the full accuracy of the gun used.

I must also attest that all values of the tank and guns are with a crew that has 100% skill, not counting the Repair, Camo and Firefighting skills, which you can train AFTER getting the 100% of the normal skills

I found that the pz4 thru King Tiger are all freat tanks to snipe in also most TD's are build specifically to snipe :)

You wouldn't know me.  I played a bit, lurked on the forums a lot, saw you post there a lot.  I was on EU-1 at launch, and on NA-1 as well.  Name was Jakeral Staryeye, but yeah.

Was just a surprise to see you on these forums is all :)

The MS-1's 20mm autocannon is actually the most accurate gun in the game. If that matters to you.

If you're looking for accurate guns, the German heavy/medium tanks or TDs are probably the best choice, but the Americans aren't too bad. Most of the Soviet guns are reasonably accurate, but there's still a difference and you do notice it, or I did anyway.

The conical gun on the VK3601 is super accurate and crazy fast to fire and aim.  The German line starting from the 75mm L70 and forward are great snipers platforms.  The King Tiger has 3 awesome sniping guns.

Most of the German line get good accurate guns. The 88L100 on the E-50 is 0.26, which I think is the best accuracy in the upper tiers.

Germans are great but take a bit more time to aim where as US tanks are solid with less overall accuracy but can achive it by the time to fire your next round.

Panther vs Ez8 is perfect example

Panther fires very fast but I cant really move at all and expect it to be totally small reticle by the time it shoots where as EZ8 loads in 2.81 secs and aim time is 2 so it works perfectly.

If every gun in game were as accurate as my EZ8 I would be in love...I know that the Pershings gun says its more accurate bt for some reason it just doesnt feel as accurate, maybe because ROF makes up for it and when I miss iM not waiting 7 secs but 2.81 :)

I love US for snipers because there Depression allows you to shoot from hills that have bushes and stay back 15m sometimes you you remain Camo`d where as German are likescapels and can circumsize a knat at 1k meters you have to roll over that hill completely to fire and you are fully exposed.

I love them both but .35 I find to be as accurate as I need upo about 450 meters, Even the Pattons .37 is ok at 350 meters but it reall y starts stacking against you past 400 meter, also remember alot of tanks have frontal weakspots that youll need to hit so you need a gun that can hit those at 200.

But with my Pnzr 4 [one of my favs] I could literally hit drive wheels at 500 meters 7/10 times, and it really does seem like German rounds move faster though the air for less lead time.

But I remember my favorite match I saw a IS4`s front wheel [and really only half of it] I aimed carefully while he was trying to snipe my heavy buddy. I didnt expect to hit him he was 489 meters away I hit him 17 times in a row with out a miss JUST HIS DRIVE WHEEL, I kept him tracked for so long 2 KV3`s 200 metrs behind me drover right up to the back of him and pop`d him.

After that I was in love. Panther is very similair.

So basically dedicated sniper go Germman even the E75 is very accurate , but its meds are rediculous.

If you going for Terrain sniping or opportunistic sniping where you sneak around and shoot targets from distance but arent redyfor you I`d say US line. But with the US line you hav to be very very sharp and be able think quickly or you'll be a corpse the fastest as well.

Also keep in mind that a .34 gun is quite a bit more accurate than a .37 gun, and a .30 gun is way more accurate than either.

It's not a linear thing, because there isn't a linear relation between the diameter of your shot spread and the area that the circle it forms is covering.  This is very important because of the distribution of your shots inside (and sometimes outside) your aiming circle.

The area inside the circle grows faster than the diameter of it, so a .38 gun is not .04 worse than a .34 gun.
