Over the next several weeks, a series of tournaments will be introduced to test different formats for the WGL. All players that participate are requested to provide feedback on the proposed format, to help judge the utility of this format for future WGL seasons.

Players may leave all feedback and discussion before the tournament begins in this thread. At the conclusion of the tournament, we will have a separate thread for post-battle feedback.

Team Captains: Captains are asked to provide screenshots of all 3 pages of the after battle report to tournaments@wargamingamerica.com. Ideally, the screenshots are requested from all players on the team, for all battles.

no T1s limits the number of players required to play.  Bad if you are trying to promote the game, but in the case of Bomb Squad, sadly we'd likely still be going if that were the case, but the loss of the T1 removes the scout/forward observer feel from the game.  it might lead to more camping.

Just a few early thoughts.

You'd rather have a T1 scout ?  Well, work out your team tank make up so you can fit one in, they ARE allowed. Good Luck with that ...... :playing:

Or... you could get 2 tier 7s and 2 tier 1s.

2 T29s for example.. nerfed T32s that you always see basically.

I would just like to add this little bit of feedback.  Why the push for tier 8 tanks?  Is there not 10 tiers of tanks to choose from in this game?

Tank Companies: tiers 4, 6, 8, 10

Team Battles: tier 8 (with some 1s)

Clan Wars: tier 10

Stronghold: tiers 6, 8, 10

Whats wrong with the odd tiers?  Can we please spread some of these game modes around to include different tanks?  Seeing the same KV-1ses and IS-3s all the time is getting real boring.

Sorry for any disruption and thanks for reading.

Would definitely remove the "man, really, draw because the other team was able to hide a T1 light in the corner of the map" element from the high-end games...I know watching Fnatic vs Hammer Time lost a lot of its flavour because of that.

I feel like removing the T1 scouts would just promote the passive/reactive gameplay.

This is just Team Battles with 2 fewer points. Why?

Why work on new modes when the ones you have are poorly implemented already?

Historical Battles? Useless.

Team battles? Was great until the interest dropped and the queues became unbearable . Great now you have to wait 5 mins to be matched with the only other team in queue.

Let's work on getting them working, then we can try the "not quite team battle" mode you proposed above and others.

You know what would really get people in team battles ? GOLD. No I don't think you should undermine your business model by dishing it out, but if you rewarded people with a small sum, say 10 gold a win (or 100 for ten wins) or something pathetic like that it would be enough to get the "play4fun" crowd or the"don't want to spend money on a free game" crowd while still making it inefficient for farming gold. Have you considered a 6/45 or 6/46 format? It would give teams a chance to use a Chaffee or some other scout that could influence fights and make the 'scout' aspect more desirable and interesting to those watching. Additionally it could be substituted for a tier 5 arty that could help with breaking camps.

This is a WGL rules change test

This isn't a new mode...this is for those who play very competitively in the league, all it is is a large rule change...

Read what your posting on first, huh? maybe?

If you play on team without T1s you are forced to sit and react to the enemy on maps like ensk and ruinburg. Will only lead to more draws.

All the talk of T1s and scouts, am I the only person who sees that T8 LT are allowed (and its 5v5, 5x8=40 pts)?  If you want something to fill the scout role there are actual T8 scouts available.  T8 LTs are quite capable of dealing significant damage too, so it's not like you'd hamper your team greatly by bringing in a T8 Light.  Additionally since this is for an upcoming format, remember that T8 LTs are going to be buffed in 9.3(ish) and another 3 added, so you'll have lots of selection on what Light tank to bring to scout for you.

Let's be honest, this is a rather pedantic post. Substitute game mode with format. Do you not think changing the WGL format will trickle down to team battles or other future game modes?

Ok. So, we get off the T1s and in all maps the use of a light tier VIII (AMX 13 90, WZ-132) will be more important. I mean, in Himmelsdorf, for example, now you need to run with a light and no five heavys. The light will need to run a great part from the map and the matches will be most slowly than nowadays - because any wrong move you will be harmed.

It is better to maintain the team, but worse for the matches ... even decrease the time to seven minutes, I doubt anyone would risk an attack could lose because a part of the map is blind. Btw, doesn't transform WGL and WoT into one another any Sports game. This is the format that is going well and everyone approved. In other words, if necessary decrease from ten to nine the number of members on each team.

This format would definitely work better for pubs; easier to get a team and nobody ever wants to play the tier 1s under pub conditions.  I'm not sure it's a good thing for organized play at all.  7/42 is already pretty campy and dull to watch, and this will just make it worse.  Instead of removing 2 players, why not just give the extra players enough points to take a higher tier tank?  If you could take two tier 5-6 tanks things would open up quite a bit and people would be much more willing to play in such slots.

Nobody wants to run in T1? lol MacG not approves that. hehe

Decreases the time of the battles for seven minutes, remove points from teams that tie in regular season... force it for the win. Change the format is to shoot yourself in the foot! Simply set it, not change it.

I always shudder whenever Wargaming "improves" or alters anything.

If it isn't broke, quit trying to fix it, you Rus-mungaloids.

Just leave the damn game alone, leave it in the dysfunctionaly functional state it's in without running it into the ground any more and i might - MIGHT not decide to scrap this game and never look back while enjoying the 8ullshit free Warthunder.

I've been playing this game since Alpha, and I'm fed up with how abysmal the game has become. Seriously hoping Wg get's it's craptogether and does something for the players in stead of itself for once in it's miserable profiteering existence both mechanically, and socially. The community is worse than Leauge Of Legends... that's a new low for gamer communities.

It's like everyone from /k/ and /b/ play this game, and the mechanics are starting to reflect the idiocy.
At least don;t ruin clans for people. That's all this game has got.

T8 lights are used all the time, the issue is risking 1 of 5 tier 8s to scout whereas in the standard format t1s can be used without worrying about giving your opponent a significant advantage.
