Over the next several weeks, a series of tournaments will be introduced to test different formats for the WGL. All players that participate are requested to provide feedback on the proposed format, to help judge the utility of this format for future WGL seasons.

Players may leave all feedback and discussion before the tournament begins in this thread. At the conclusion of the tournament, we will have a separate thread for post-battle feedback.

Team Captains: Captains are asked to provide screenshots of all 3 pages of the after battle report to tournaments@wargamingamerica.com. Ideally, the screenshots are requested from all players on the team, for all battles.

Please see the tournament page for all information

This is very interesting. Will this be treated the same as the current league format as mods are not allowed; is that the reason for the screenshots?

I do think that the removal of the "tier 1" tanks will definitely add another level of planning.

If I am competing in the Open League, can I still participate in this?

Of course! We encourage players/teams from all leagues to participate. Any changes would directly affect y'all.

Team sizes in other sports might work well... Paintball 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 man tournaments used to be fairly common team sizes.... Shrug.

What about 'sweetening' the pot and giving 1st place a set of the forthcoming russian prem 8 meds to play with early?

Is there any point to our feedback if all that matters is what Minsk does? 6/48 is naturally better than 7/42, no one wants to watch tier 1's. That being said 5/50 master race (5 tier 10s)

I don't know why WG doesn't try to promote a 5/50 kind of tournament style.  I believe it would provide a wider range of tank compositions and keep the games more interesting and fresh.  Plus, as a business aspect, it would encourage players to push to tier 10s more and provide a larger revenue stream.  The same old tank compositions seen in 7/42 and such get kind of bland after a while.

As I understand it, the most important thing that could be done to make things more interesting would be to eliminate draws. For instance, why not institute a rule that in the event of a draw the team which has done the most damage in the battle is declared the winner? I would like to see tier 9s and 10s allowed in somehow though.
