Over the next several weeks, a series of tournaments will be introduced to test different formats for the WGL. All players that participate are requested to provide feedback on the proposed format, to help judge the utility of this format for future WGL seasons.

Players may leave all feedback and discussion before the tournament begins in this thread. At the conclusion of the tournament, we will have a separate thread for post-battle feedback.

Team Captains: Captains are asked to provide screenshots of all 3 pages of the after battle report to tournaments@wargamingamerica.com. Ideally, the screenshots are requested from all players on the team, for all battles.

Please see the tournament page for all information

Less tier 8.

More 9's and 7's for regular tourney use. Tier 8 already has two things you can do with them. Team battles, and Champ companies.

7 and 9 still have nothing to do on a regular basis.

While as said above, tier 8s are already used commonly (Fun tier, why not. Seems to be very balanced, so Im okay with that), I do like having two tier 2s as a possibility. Tetrarch, your time is now! (or 1 tier 1, and 1 tier 3)

Was curious if we can bring 6 tanks but all 44 tiers, it doesn't state in the rules that we lose a tier per tanker missing.

Tier 2s would be awesome. So many options at tier 2.

Also tier 8 is relatively balanced for fights within tier 8, much more than tier 7 or 9. There is no need to venture outside tier 8 for competitive play.

I still want to see a tourney where you are required to bring a tank from each nation or a tank from each type (light, med, heavy, TD, SPG)

I disagree.

Tier 7, at least to me, feels slightly more balanced than tier 8 does. I only included tier 9 in their because they get no love.

EDIT:

While im at it, could really use some regular tournaments for the early morning EST hours.

There was a Challenge on Westfield way back when with those requirements. 40 points, tier 9, 5 man team, one of each tank type. It was... interesting.

We ran an AMX 13 90, M41, AMX 50 120, T30 and T-54. Some teams ran a Chaffee to get an M40/M43, and there were a fair number of E-75s and IS-8s fielded. T30 was constant because it was the only TD worth fielding at the time.

EDIT: Found it. http://forum.worldof...rody-challenge/

My memory doesn't last two years apparently making the above a half-truth. It was still interesting regardless.

This was before T8+ arty and before the French medium line was bumped up a tier, so the 13 90 was the tier 7 light used, and the BatChat/T-54 were the T9 mediums of choice.

It appears the WG League rules might apply since they reference these rules in their introduction.  I found this.

Special Restrictions:

A team must use 7 tanks to access 42 available tier points. A team with less than 7 tanks decreases their available tier points by 1 for every missing vehicle.

They have 44 tier points for this rather than 42, but might still apply?

Anyone have a definitive answer?

Eh? I'm guessing -2 points for every missing player from 7, but it's not bad.

Are you going to be 'seeding' the finals with pro teams separated again, and if so, what about doubling the high bracket's prizes? Kinda makes it a hard sell when it's 'hey guys, screw your skirmish and easy 5k gold for no effort, come do this 7/44 and if we beat cunninghams and SIMP we get the same thing.'
